Antonella was our tour guide in Lucca. She was amazing, so knowledgeable, friendly and very passionate about history and Lucca and the surrounding area. We learned so much from her and had such a good time. We walked all over looking at the architecture, walking on the ramparts, and learning about not only the history of the town but also the town in relation to other cities such as Pisa, Siena and Florence and the animosity between these cities which affected the architecture of Lucca. Lucca is a historic city but also a vibrant city and so much fun to see. Antonella was great - I highly recommend her if you are in Lucca!
Beautiful and wonderful place, don't miss visiting. City with medieval look and preserved history. Ruas aconchegantes .
Our local guide Sara was excellent. She really gave us a taste of what local life is by showing us different foods and gathering places. She told us all about the history of Lucca which we found interesting. My only issue with this tour was that Viator advertised it as 2.5 hours and we were only given approximately 2 hours( a bit shy of it). This is not the fault of the tour guide as we basically went down every street in Lucca. It is very small. Overall, it was a great experience,
Thanks a lot Angie, I will forward your excellent review to Sara.
Lucca's walls remain in place after centuries and surround the entire city. They are some 20 feet high from the inside, reached by several reasonably sloped on-ramps. On the outside the town is surrounded mostly by meadows some 40-60 feet below your path. It's a great way to get the feel of the city which, retaining its medieval character, is a maze of streets winding through 3- and 4-story buildings and makes it difficult to absorb more than the block you are standing in. You can of course shorten your walk by cutting directly across the city at some point instead of making the entire circuit.
Our tour guide Nadia was so knowledgeable! She knew so much history. She was very passionate about the city and its history. We learn so much and saw things that were so much more amazing because of her explanations.
This was a perfect tour. There were only two couples plus our guide. She paid great attention to us as we walked around this beautiful city.
Lucca is a beautiful town to walk around to enjoy the view and the wealth of artistic assets it possesses. Beautiful house museum Puccini. To eat you can find bars in the historic center, where you can taste traditional dishes
We hired bicyles and cycled round the walls (4km) but also lovely to walk round entire old city along these walls -takes about an hour)
Excellent guide. She was knowledgeable and personable. It’s a great way to get your bearings in Lucca. Highly recommend.
Our tour guide was knowledgeable and very pleasant. Keep things moving in a nice way. Gave great insight about Lucca and it’s history. Both architectural and food and wine.
