Het Vikingschipmuseum is gevestigd in het historische Roskilde, a slechts 25 minuten van Kopenhagen, duizend jaar geleden werd het noorden geregeerd door de piraten van die tijd, beter bekend als de Vikingen. Deze woeste krijgers deden vroeger... cruise de oceanen in hun houten schepen, overvallen en onderweg land veroveren. In het Vikingschipmuseum, je krijgt een kijkje in het leven van een volk dat zeer symbolisch geworden voor de Scandinavische landen. Je zult versteld staan als je wordt geconfronteerd met de de vijf originele Vikingschepen van het museum, waarvan de overblijfselen overleefde al die jaren intact. Tijdens het hoogseizoen en vakanties, het museum organiseert vele spannende activiteiten en werkplaatsen. U kunt de werkzaamheden volgen op de werf of zetten uw vakmanschap op de proef met Viking-ambachten zoals hout snijden en wilgen weven.
De enorme kathedraal van Saint Lucia, een van de eerste voorbeelden van baksteengotiek, vertelt de hele kunstgeschiedenis de afgelopen zevenhonderd jaar: van gotisch en Renaissance tot classicisme en modernisme. Je zult ook leer over de rituelen en modes rond begrafenissen en begrafenissen. De Deense vorsten waren liever gevestigd in Kopenhagen om te leven en te beslissen over het lot van het land, maar voor hun eeuwige rust gingen ze naar Roskilde.

Maria was our guide on this tour. I want to congratulate you on Mary's wisdom. It is a true storyteller! We visited the Viking Museum but what surprised us was the Roskilde Cathedral. Spent the day with Luis our tour guide and Baba our driver. Luis has a genuine love of travel and history and it was apparent in our conversations and on the tour. Luis is a terrific guide and is very knowledgeable about the Danish monarchy, the Roskilde cathedral, and the Viking ships. Very enjoyable day all around.

Hugely overpriced. Our guide was, indeed, knowledgeable, but the experience overall left us wondering why it's priced at nearly $500 per person. Our transportation was in a taxi with no commentary along the route as to what we were seeing (other than a highway). The two main tours -- the Roskilde cathedral and the viking village -- were fascinating, but given the cost of this tour, it should have also included free entry to the museum and a light meal or something. The tour was good; the price was not, especially compared to what we received in other Viator tours in Denmark that were fabulous, twice as long and half the price.
Dear Janet, It's a pity to receive such a review. The distance to Roskilde is not small - so transport is always not cheap. In this case, you had an electric Tesla. Also, you had a local licensed Danish guide. Moreover, he himself comes from Roskilde. We choose only the best for our trips. We do not include tickets to museums - since not all people want to visit museums, but want to walk the streets, get to know the city, and not sit in a car and look out the window. Viator lied about what this package includes. It says “As well as exploring exhibits, get out on the water and ride on a Viking ship.” That is a lie. I asked for a partial refund and was refused. Do not book this tour. Do not use Viator.

Viking boat ride is not included in our tour - it can be done in the museum and much more if desired and depending on the season. Pleasant and helpful guide spotless vehicle . Interesting content. Overpriced for 2 people could have been longer for the money . Poor communication from booking- had to be chased to confirm booking with less than 24 hours to go.

Transportation was very nice both ways. Guide was very knowledgeable. I got to spend time with some shipbuilders which was wonderful. I would say all in all it was wonderful day except I had the pay for all my entrance fees which was supposed to be included.
This was the best tour of our entire trip. Ulla was fabulous and Inga was a great driver. We had so much fun that day and Ulla was able to get us to take the ride on the Viking ship and tour the cathedral. I will always remember the wonderful day we had in Denmark!!
