Gelegen op een spectaculaire klif met uitzicht op zee, was Pointe du Hoc een van de meest heroïsche locaties van de landing op 6 juni 1944. Hier beklommen Amerikaanse Rangers onder vijandelijk vuur de kliffen om Duitse artillerieposities uit te schakelen. Tegenwoordig is de plek, die vrijwel intact is gebleven, een opvallend landschap van kraters en bunkers te zien, een aangrijpend getuigenis van de hevige strijd. Het uitzicht op het Kanaal en de omliggende kliffen maken het tot een plek die zowel ontroerend als indrukwekkend is.
Dit uitgestrekte strand met goudkleurig zand, bijgenaamd “Bloody Omaha”, was het toneel van de hevigste gevechten tijdens de landing op D-Day. Als je over dit vredige strand loopt, kun je je moeilijk voorstellen hoe dapper de duizenden Amerikaanse soldaten waren die hier onder hevig vuur aan land kwamen. Monumenten en musea betuigen hun moed, terwijl de vredige horizon uitnodigt tot bezinning. Een emblematische plek waar geschiedenis en emotie samensmelten met de natuurlijke schoonheid van de Normandische kust. U krijgt hier ook de gelegenheid om te lunchen als u dat wenst (ik weet dat elk restaurant dat wordt voorgesteld).
Deze majestueuze begraafplaats met uitzicht op Omaha Beach herbergt de graven van bijna 10.000 Amerikaanse soldaten die voor de vrijheid zijn gevallen. De perfecte uitlijning van witte kruizen en Davidsterren creëert een sfeer van vrede en diep respect. Het monument, de kapel en het museum brengen op waardige wijze het offer van deze mannen in beeld. Tussen de zee en de kliffen biedt deze plek van herinnering een moment van stilte en dankbaarheid in het licht van de geschiedenis.
De batterijen van Longues-sur-Mer liggen tussen Omaha en Gold Beach en zijn een van de weinige nog intacte overblijfselen van de Atlantikwall. Op deze plek, die als historisch monument is aangemerkt, staan nog steeds de indrukwekkende originele kanonnen, bevroren met hun gezicht naar de zee. Als je door de bunkers loopt, kun je je voorstellen hoe sterk de Duitse verdediging was en hoe de palen van de Landing er uitzagen. Een fascinerende plek waar natuur en geschiedenis samenkomen voor een meeslepende en authentieke ervaring.
Arromanches was het toneel van een unieke technologische prestatie: de bouw van de kunstmatige haven “Mulberry”, van vitaal belang voor de bevoorrading van de geallieerde troepen. Zelfs vandaag de dag zijn bij eb de restanten van deze haven nog te zien. Een bewijs van de vindingrijkheid en vastberadenheid van de geallieerden. Het Landingmuseum en de spectaculaire panorama's vanaf de kliffen vertellen het verhaal van deze logistieke prestatie die het verloop van de oorlog veranderde.
De Pegasusbrug was de eerste brug die werd bevrijd op 6 juni 1944 en markeerde het begin van de bevrijding van Frankrijk. Britse parachutisten van de 6e Luchtlandingsdivisie voerden hier een nachtelijke aanval uit met ongelooflijke precisie. De nauwkeurig gerestaureerde brug en het bijbehorende museum vertellen het verhaal van deze heldhaftige missie. Omringd door het kanaal en het beroemde “Café Gondrée”, het eerste bevrijde huis in Frankrijk, trilt de plek nog steeds van de geest van moed en geallieerde broederschap.

The customer service was excellent. Somehow we were able to make a last minute booking online even tho there was no availability. We were immediately contacted and despite the late hour they were able to accommodate us and found a driver. The driver was excellent and we are so thankful for the experience.

Excellent tour! Sebastian was very easy to coordinate with, was extremely accommodating, and very knowledgeable. It was a perfect day. He knew the best spots to see the sights and even showed us a few gems that I didn't expect. He even helped me make a little video in English and French for my nieces and nephews which they loved. This was an incredible tour - to go back in time to learn about and visit the site of Normandy. Sebastian was fantastic. He accommodated us at the last minute when our original plans fell apart. He provided us with an exceptional ride and visit to Normandy. His depth of knowledge was incredible - a living encyclopedia of the history of Normandy. A fantastic day, with a wise historian! Our day with Sebastian was incredible. First of all, he was SOOOOOO accommodating. We met him in Caen and he took us to all the D Day sites that we (not he) wanted. He had suggestions but followed our requests. We got to decide how long we were at each site. At the end, he calculated that we had enough extra time to do a final stop before he dropped us off. His tour was full of historical knowledge. He took us to a great little restaurant because we wanted to eat quickly and see more sites. His van was exceptionally clean and comfortable. I cannot recommend this tour, and Sebastian highly enough!
Sebastian was fantastic. We had a wonderful day with him on our D-Day tour in Normandy. He is very knowledgeable, speaks excellent English, and has a genuine passion for the history, which made everything much more meaningful. What I appreciated most was that he took us to some incredible spots that many of the larger tours seemed to miss, so we were able to experience places without the crowds. It made the day feel much more personal and special. Walking those beaches and sites with someone who could explain the history so well was truly humbling and something I will never forget. I am so glad I found this tour. Sebastian was amazing. He suggested we arrive the night before the tour and stay in the most fantastic fairytale like Little town. He even suggested accommodations for that night. We were picked up at the airport and driven directly to our hotel three hours away near Normandy. We were then picked up the next morning and taken to the Tour. Sebastian was very knowledgeable about every part of this D-Day experience. His knowledge was fascinating. We saw Omaha beach, the American cemetery Pointe du Hoc, we saw old bunkers up close and explored so much more! If you ar considering s trip to Normandy this is absolutely the tour you should book!!!
