De noordelijke regio van Qatar wordt gekenmerkt door een gevarieerde geografie die zowel kust- als binnenlandgebieden omvat. Het noordelijke kustgebied van Qatar strekt zich uit langs de Perzische Golf. Het staat bekend om zijn pittoreske zandstranden. Landinwaarts vanaf de kust gaat de geografie van het noorden van Qatar over in uitgestrekte vlakke zandvlaktes. Het Al Zubarah-schiereiland is een prominent geografisch kenmerk in het noorden van Qatar. Het is de thuisbasis van de archeologische vindplaats Al Zubarah (UNESCO-werelderfgoed). Deze vlaktes zijn vooral opmerkelijk vanwege het dorp Al-jubail en zijn mangrove-ecosystemen, vooral in gebieden als Al Thakira en Purple Island. Al Khor is een kuststad in het noorden van Qatar, 50 kilometer ten noorden van de hoofdstad Doha. Het wordt beschouwd als een van de grootste steden van Qatar en is de hoofdstad van de gemeente Al Khor. De naam van de stad betekent kreek in het Arabisch; het kreeg deze naam omdat de oorspronkelijke nederzetting aan een kreek was gebouwd.
Gelegen in het noordoosten van Qatar, is Bin Ghannam Island, in de volksmond bekend als Purple Island, een plek die je absoluut moet bezoeken. Op een uur rijden van Doha, vlakbij de stad Al Khor, staat het eiland bekend om zijn natuurlijke schoonheid, exotische flora en fauna, en is het ideaal voor een dagje uit voor het hele gezin.
Het Al Zubara Fort werd oorspronkelijk in 1938 gebouwd door Sjeik Abdullah bin Jassim al Thani om als kustwachtstation te dienen, hoewel sommigen beweren dat het gebouwd was om als politiebureau te dienen. Het werd later gerenoveerd tot een museum om diverse tentoonstellingen en kunstwerken tentoon te stellen, vooral voor hedendaagse actuele archeologische vondsten.
Al Jumail is een verlaten dorp bewoond door de Alkubaisi-stam in het noordoosten van Qatar, gelegen in de gemeente Al Shamal. Het was vóór de 21e eeuw een belangrijke stad op het noordelijke schiereiland. Nabijgelegen nederzettingen zijn onder meer Ruwayda in het zuidwesten en Yusufiyah en Abu Dhalouf in het noorden.

Going see the culture of early Qatar at fort zubara was great the price was decent and we had really nice weather in December for it
Nothing very exciting to see on this tour. The Purple Island is disappointing, long walk in the sun, little to see. The fort is small, only built in 1938. The history of the region is interesting. The ruins at Al Jumail are just 500 year old ruins...
Besides the desert safari this is one of the rare chances to do a tour outside the Doha and Lusail city boundaries. Waleed was our tour guide for the afternoon, and he picked us from our hotel in Doha. The drive was smooth as the roads are very good. There was not much activity at the stopping points. This meant our stops were relatively short. The best stop of the day was actually the restaurant that Waleed recommended and where he dropped us; the Afghan Brothers restaurant along the Ahmed Bin Ali street.

Yousaf was a kind and informative tour guide! He worked around my schedule to see the highlights while making sure I got back in time for a second tour I had booked. It was great going outside of Doha to see more of what Qatar has to offer!
The North tour was another unique and unforgettable experience! Ismail and KJ were incredibly knowledgeable, sharing their insights and patiently answering all our questions. The mangrove forest is fantastic- walked along the wooden pathway and we saw water snails, crabs and fishes. Zubara fort was unique, and it was great to learn about the history and how people lived at that time. We would highly recommend visiting the ‘Shadows traveling on the sea of the day’ - got some great pictures there. The archaeological site at Al Jumail is also worth a visit and we watched the sunset there with some great views over the ocean! Everything ran smoothly, and it was truly a memorable day! Overall, a fantastic tour, wonderful opportunity to learn more about Qatar and great value for money!
This was our first tour with Walleed, and your company and were very impressed with it, enjoying the other aspects of Qatar, the fish market, and the old forts. Walleed was very informative and courteous and we look forward to our second tour to the west coast hopefully with him as our guide. Alan Learmonth .
Very boring tour. There’s nothing to see, and the 4hs drive is extremely monotonous in between places. had 4 x 2mins stops in places where I didn’t even know what they were, as my guide had little English. Don’t get me wrong, he was super kind and attentive, and drove super well. Car was perfect, and had water a juice for me. but very little information about the places, the city or the tour itself. For an almost 200€ tour, I was expecting way more. I wouldn’t recommend this tour to anyone in Doha.
We had a great tour of northern Qatar with Hamad. We were sent pickup instructions the day before via WhatsApp and were promptly picked up at the allotted time. The tour went to the fish market at Al Khor, purple island mangroves, Al Zubar fort, Shadows traveling on the Sea sculpture and Jumsil abandoned village. Highlights were definitely the fort and sculpture, which are both great photo ops. Good tour, exceeded my expectations and appreciated Hamad’s information on things like Doha on the drive.

Our trip went safe and sound. The driver is also our tour guide. He was able to answer our questions about the places even if its not part of the tour. What we like most is the "shadows travelling by the sea" by olafur elliason.
