Reisroute
De dag begint heel vroeg, met pick-ups tussen 03:00 en 03:30 uur rechtstreeks van uw hostel of hotel in Cusco naar Cusipata. De eerste rit duurt ongeveer 1 uur en 30 minuten.
De eerste stop is in Cusipata voor 30 minuten om te ontbijten. Van daaruit vervolgen we onze reis nog anderhalf uur, door het dorp Pitumarca tot we Hanchipata-Llama Chimpana bereiken, waar de wandeling begint.
U begint de wandeling aan de voet van de Ausangate bergketen en baant zich een weg omhoog voor ongeveer 1 uur en 45 minuten. We bereiken dan het hoogste punt van Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), de beste plek om de ongelooflijke kleuren en de besneeuwde Ausangate piek te zien.
Dit wordt het hoogste punt van de berg. U krijgt de mogelijkheid om verschillende soorten Zuid-Amerikaanse kameelachtigen (familieleden van kamelen) te zien. We bezoeken ook de Red Hill, waar je tijd hebt om van het landschap te genieten en prachtige foto’s te maken. Houd er rekening mee dat de toegangsprijs voor Red Hill niet bij de ticketprijs is inbegrepen.
Stop in Cusipata voor de lunch.
U eindigt de wandeling met een 1 uur durende afdaling over vlak terrein, waarbij u terugkeert naar waar de wandeling begon. De chauffeur wacht op u om u terug te brengen naar de wijk Cusipata voor een 1 uur durende traditionele lunch. Na de lunch keren we terug naar Cusco, waar we om ongeveer 15:30 uur aankomen.

Afhalingen zijn tussen 03:00 en 03:30 uur. We halen op bij vermelde hotels en hostels in Cusco, die meer dan 90% van de accommodatieverschaffers in het gebied dekt. This was the most amazing experience. David was an experienced, knowledgeable and highly supportive guide. This is quite challenging given the altitude but with David’s expertise we managed, and thoroughly enjoyed, the day. Rainbow Mountain is really great but the Red Valley blew us away. Went on a tour to the rainbow mountain and red valley with Darwin the guide and it was great. We went early to see the sites, we saw Andean eagles flying, which was great, and the weather was also really good
