Deze culturele dagtour begint met een bezoek aan een lokale inheemse markt in Saquilisilí of een historische kerk in Pujilí (donderdag/zondag). De rit naar Laguna Quilotoa biedt een prachtig uitzicht op het Andesgebergte, langs de oude kloof van Zumbahua en vele inheemse steden en landerijen. Voordat we in Quilotoa aankomen, zullen we een ongelooflijke lokale galerij in Tigua bezoeken, waar we een korte schilderles zullen hebben om meer te weten te komen over de oude technieken in deze charmante stad. De tour omvat een wandeling naar beneden naar de Laguna Quilotoa, een sprankelend smaragdgroen meer in de inactieve vulkaankrater. We bezoeken de Quilotoa-lagune, een van de mooiste vulkanische lagunes ter wereld. Het belangrijkste kenmerk van deze lagune, met een diepte van 250 meter, is het turquoise groene water. De Quilotoa is de meest westelijke vulkaan in de Ecuadoraanse Andes, binnen zijn krater is een caldera gevormd met een diameter van bijna 9 km. We zullen naar beneden wandelen om te zien hoe de mineralen het oppervlak een groenachtige en blauwachtige tint hebben gegeven wanneer het wordt geraakt door zonlicht. Binnen zijn er bronnen die vanaf de kust kunnen worden gezien als borrelende paden die naar de oppervlakte stijgen.
We bezoeken de traditionele stad Tigua, waar artiesten altijd bekend staan om het versieren van maskers en trommels voor hun festivals met precisie en levendige kleuren. Hun getalenteerde handen creëren een extravaganza van kleur en schoonheid die verder gaat dan verwacht zou worden van autodidactische kunstenaars. Eenmaal hier krijg je een schilderles met de voorouderlijke techniek van schilderen op een schapenvacht. Je neemt je creatie mee als souvenir om deze onconventionele ervaring te onthouden.
We bezoeken het uitkijkpunt van Toachi Canyon, een groot geografisch ongeluk in de vorm van een gigantisch ravijn dat gedeeltelijk het reservaat doorkruist en zichtbaar is vanuit een natuurlijk gezichtspunt in de buurt van Sigchos. Dit geografische kenmerk heeft een uitkijkpunt om het prachtige landschap te waarderen in het diepe binnenland waarvan de Toachi-rivier, de belangrijkste hydrografische as van het gebied, stroomt.

Jeannin was an amazing guide! The drive to the highlands was gorgeous and Quilotoa Crater Lake was breathtaking! We recommend hiking boots and hiking sticks to assist with the footing, which can be challenging because it is steep. We would definitely do this trip with Jen again!
We had a great trip with Manuel, on July 3, 2023. Manuel was very knowledgeable about the area, about Quito, and Ecuador. We enjoyed getting to know him. The private tour gave us great flexibility, which was helpful because we were still acclimatizing to the altitude.

Excellent pre-trip organization, detailed information about what we should take, meeting points, I could see that if they were complied with biosecurity protocols every time we got on the transport such as: disinfection of shoes before entering, temperature taking, disinfection of clothes, alcohol for hands and that we all wear masks inside and outside the bus. Very good guide with a lot of knowledge of the environment, knows the route and the locality very well. I would definitely travel with Inspiring Ecuador again. I recommend it.
