Gelegen in het centrum van de stad Sintra en met duizend jaar geschiedenis, is het Nationaal Paleis van Sintra het oudste van Portugal. Palace was de thuisbasis van de Portugese koninklijke familie en waar we de beroemde schoorstenen kunnen zien.
Het paleis werd populair als filmlocatie voor Roman Polanski's thriller "The Ninth Door", met in de hoofdrol Johnny Depp, die in deze periode ook Sintra en het Biesterpaleis bezocht.
Bezoek de kasteelmuren. Met toegang tot prachtige uitzichtpunten over het historische centrum van Sintra. De Moren woonden er tot 1147, toen Sintra werd veroverd door de eerste koning van Portugal (koning Dom Afonso Henriques).
Een klim naar de Serra do Parque Natural de Sintra (UNESCO-erfgoed) en stop bij Vale dos Lagos, om te genieten van een deel van de Pena Palace-tuin.
Het Pena-paleis is een van de meest bezochte monumenten van Europa. Het is sinds 1910 geclassificeerd als Nationaal Monument en in 1995 geclassificeerd als UNESCO-werelderfgoed. De gids moet u informeren waar u kaartjes kunt kopen om het Palacio da Pena te bezoeken. Toeristen kunnen zo lang bezoeken als ze willen. Deze tijd die u besteedt aan een bezoek aan het paleis, is niet inbegrepen in de rondleidingstijd. Pedro was a fantastic and knowledgeable guide that took his time really giving us the history and stories to everything he saw.
The guide was not very personable and even though the tour was supposed to last two hours, he dropped us off at the town center - not the original pick up point as specified in the reservation - after an hour twenty minutes. We asked him to drop us at a spot he had showed us on the tour but would not do that even though there was lots of time left. Also Portuguese guides are not formally trained so often they don't know the answers to your questions or could even make up "facts".
During the two-hour tuk tuk tour, we were extensively briefed by Anatoliii. He showed us many beautiful places, stopped regularly so we could take pictures. We found it an unforgettable experience.

The best way to get to know the sights and history of the city. David was excellent in all matters, going through sympathy, knowledge in the explanation, knowledge of the strategic points to visit, and openness to adapt the route and points according to the profile of the client. You know that quick but at the same time complete tour? What gives you what to remember and a taste of wanting more? Because it's this Tuk Tuk by Sintra.
