We ontmoeten de cruiseterminal of een andere voorkeursaccommodatie in Triëst en gaan rechtstreeks naar Postojna. Een rit in een comfortabele, moderne, schone privébus met airconditioning of een minibus duurt ongeveer 45 minuten. We accepteren maximaal 20 personen voor deze excursie.
Als we aankomen in Postojna, zal uw chauffeur u naar de ingang van de grot begeleiden, u kaartjes geven (inbegrepen in de prijs) en u zult zich aansluiten bij een groep die in de taal van uw voorkeur wordt begeleid door een lokale grotgids. De grot is zo groot dat je er met het elektrische treintje naar binnen gaat (15 minuten rijden). Daarna word je door de grot geleid en krijg je een aantal interessante feiten en de geschiedenis van dit Sloveense juweeltje. Dit deel van de rondleiding duurt ongeveer 1 uur op een min of meer vlakke ondergrond. Het kasteel werd gebouwd onder meer dan 100 meter hoge klif en wordt beschouwd als een van de mooiste kastelen ter wereld. Op het kasteel maken we een fotostop van maximaal 20 min.
Na het bezoek aan het kasteel wordt u afgezet bij de passagiersterminal van Triëst of uw gewenste locatie of accommodatie in Triëst.

This trip was fantastic. I knew the cave had to be large since it had a train but the cave is cavernous and miles long. I thought the train would be touristy and kind of a gimmick but it was not. It was necessary transportation to take you deeper into the cave. You get off the train in a large cave section and continue walking after that. We also did the castle and that was really interesting. It is built at the front of one of the cave sections. I’ve never been in a castle built into a cave before. Very enjoyable trip. The tour operator provided us a private driver and Sandra was great. Highly recommend.

This was a great trip and well worth, the adventure. Two things to note are one. The temperature inside the cave is about 50° so bring a jacket this tour does not include admission fee to the castle.

Ernest, our driver, was early to pick us up. Very professional and knowledgeable driver. His English was very good and we enjoyed all the history and stories he told us along the way. He picked us up at the cruise terminal port. It was approx 40 min drive to the caves. We had time for a drink and bathroom break before going in the cave. There is a train that takes you around then there is approx 1 kil of walking some steep inclines (not slippery though). Then the train ride back to the beginning. The caves are impressive and worth doing. Ernest met us right after the cave tour and drove us to the castle. We had the option if we wished to have lunch at the caves or at the castle. I am so glad we chose the castle. We did the castle tour where they give you a portable tour device. You scan when you go into each room of the castle and it tells you a story about the room. After the castle we had lunch at the bottom restaurant (2 only) and what a view of the castle! Lunch was very good. I highly recommend the tour and hopefully if you do the tour you are luck enough to get Ernest as your driver for the day.

The private trip was amazing. Very relaxing and educational. Yuri our driver and guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of good information. The cave in the castle are amazing. We have toured many caves throughout the world, but this one was a little different with very high caverns with stiligtights and stiligmights still intact.

Can't recommend this tour company and this experience enough! Peter was accommodating, informative and personable. He arranged for the tickets to the cave so we could avoid the lines and altered our itinerary after listening to our likes/preferences which truly made the day feel custom. The caves are fascinating and worth the visit.
By far, one of the most memorable experiences of our 12 day cruise! Imagine traveling with a huge multigenerational family of 21 people! Most times, I liken the experience to “herding cats.” But this full day activity requiring two vans and two very special and capable tour guides was a favorite for all of us! All arrangements were made via email and communication was flawless from pre-planning to execution. Postonja Cave is bucket list and Predjama castle was quite interesting too! We also arranged a local afternoon bite at a seaside restaurant which was absolutely delicious and featured local delights! This private tour was enjoyed by the youngest (2 yrs old) and impressed the oldest (82 yrs old). The guides were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing their culture and history with pride. They certainly are worthy of a mention for their patience, courtesy and professionalism! This tour is highly recommended with 100% confidence!

The Postojna caves were amazing! some of the best I've ever seen - train ride, then a walk, then a train ride back out of the caves. (not strenuous) .Loved the Predjama Castle but not enough time ( I added too many stops to our custom trip) Stopped in Vinery VinaKoper and had lunch in Pirat - full day - 9 passenger Renault van - very comfortable with good A/C! would recommend Maya, Peter and their tour company !!
