Deze begeleide Jade Wine Tour vertrekt vanaf de Picton I-Site en brengt u per minibus met airconditioning naar de Wairau-vallei voor een persoonlijke proeverij. Bezoek een selectie van grote en door een familie gerunde wijnhuizen om de beroemde Sauvignon Blanc en andere variëteiten van Marlborough te proeven, leer meer over vatrijping in de kelders en geniet van schilderachtige fotostops. Elke tour wordt gepland rond de specifieke aankomst- en vertrektijden van uw cruiseschip, waardoor een flexibele route mogelijk is die het meeste uit uw tijd aan wal haalt en tegelijkertijd een comfortabele terugkeer naar de haven garandeert. De tour omvat een stop voor lunch in een wijngaardrestaurant (eigen kosten) en, als de tijd het toelaat, een bezoek aan een chocoladefabriek en een uitkijkpost met uitzicht op uw schip.

Maak kennis met uw gids op de Picton i-Site nadat uw cruiseschip aanmeert. Stap dan aan boord van een luxe minibus en geniet van de rit door de Koromiko-bergpas naar het wijngebied Marlborough terwijl uw gids wijst op ecologische en historische bezienswaardigheden; deze tour met kleine groepen is beperkt tot 11 personen om een meer intieme sfeer te garanderen. Je bezoekt vier of vijf kelderdeuren (als de tijd het toelaat) rond de wijngaarden van Marlborough. Proef hun prijswinnende wijnen en leer hoe Marlborough's Sauvignon Blanc het summum van verfijning heeft bereikt, wandel vervolgens door een wijngaard en leer hoe klimaat, bodem en vaardigheden samenkomen om deze ongelooflijke wijnen te maken. Marlborough draait niet alleen om Sauvignon Blanc - we hebben prachtige Rieslings, knapperige en fruitige Pinot Gris, eiken en ongekookte Chardonnay en onze beroemde Pinot Noir. Er wordt een stop gemaakt voor de lunch (op eigen kosten), met lekkernijen zoals mosselen, zalm, hert of rundvlees indien beschikbaar. Als alternatief kan een lichte maaltijd van gastronomische lokale kazen om te paren met uw wijn voldoende zijn. Op de terugweg naar de haven stoppen we bij de chocoladefabriek voor een knabbeltje met handgemaakte chocolaatjes. Je keert terug naar de Picton-werf, tenminste 90 minuten voordat je cruiseschip vertrekt.

Gratis pendelbussen brengen passagiers van de kade naar de Picton i-site (of een korte wandeling vanaf de kleine ligplaatsterminal). Onze Jade Tours busjes en gidsen staan klaar op de parkeerplaats. De standaard tour starttijd is 9.30 uur. Gelieve een poging te doen om vroeg van het schip af te gaan om even na 9.00 uur op de parkeerplaats te zijn. Sommige schepen komen later aan en u wordt geïnformeerd over de juiste vertrektijd.

Long drive to get to wineries - so if you're in for that you might enjoy. Wineries were mediocre at best. Our guide was very knowledgeable just not that much to see and very winding roads.
Very sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your day. Picton is the only port that cruise ships can go to and it is 20 minutes away from the start of the wine region. We have 34,000 hectares of vineyards so there is always going to be some distance to travel. Sorry also that you found our wines mediocre. We choose wineries that have excellent wines and have a story to tell. This gives a 'flavour' of the area. One of our wineries recently entered 10 wines in the International Wine Fair in London and, quite remarkably, won ten gold medals. Our region strives for excellence and I am very sorry you got us on an off day.
Our guide John was so informative and helpful. We had an amazing day and visited some fantastic wineries including one of our favourites Villa Maria. Our lunch was sensational and it was so good to be able to be picked up from such a central location.

The wineries are beautiful, and the wine was really good. Did not realize that we had a long drive from the cruise ship., As it is a 1.5 hour trip to our destination and the same amount of time back. Our tour guide Gary was fabulous and I would recommend him to anyone.
Glad you enjoyed most of the tour. The wineries we choose are known for the quality of their wine and that they have a story to tell. The trip doesn't usually take that amount of time in travel from Picton to the wine region and back but we were experiencing extensive road works on the highway and that did slow things. A day with Gary is always fun so comeback and join us again anytime.

A fun experience with superb knowledgeable staff. We were tapped out after 3 wineries and really didn't properly appreciate the 4th stop, which was a shame, because they were awesome. The food at Spy Valley (charcuterie board) was top notch.

What a wonderful tour. Everything was clean, safe, and on time. Our guide and driver Marsley was fun, informative and hospitable. Visited 4 great small wineries including a great lunch at one of them. Plus a bonus stop at a great chocolate factory. 1000% better than any cruise ship excursion.

This is a perfectly timed excursion — a great experience and a stress free return to the ship’s shuttles. Marsley was a very well informed local guide who built an itinerary that got us to 4 wineries and a delicious lunch (on our own $$). We even had time for a stop at a chocolate factory before returning to the ship. The wineries were all smaller family-owned vineyards with long histories of winemaking in Marlborough. Each one had great wines and their own character or flair that make them special. We love the local history and storytelling that made Marsley a unique guide. You will not be disappointed on this excursion!!!

We had a very small group of 10 people that were very diverse. We all got to know each other and became friends. We went to four wineries and the chocolate factory. The third winery, they gave us a beautiful charcuterie board, which was lunch. The winery was very accommodating as some of the Group did not eat meat. The wines were very good.
