Beschrijving
Let op: als de route is afgesloten vanwege aardverschuivingen, andere natuurlijke factoren of veiligheidsredenen, kan het pad gedeeltelijk of volledig worden omgeleid naar een alternatief pad. Deze wandelroute verbindt twee van de hoogste toppen van het eiland Madeira. Dit is een prachtige route met tunnels en enkele steile beklimmingen en afdalingen, die fantastische uitzichten biedt over het centrale massief van het eiland. Het is ook mogelijk om verschillende vogels te observeren, waarvan sommige uniek zijn voor Macaronesië, zoals de saffraanvink (Serinus canaria), de pampapieper (Anthus berthelottii madeirensis) en de witvleugelgierzwaluw (Apus unicolor). Vlakbij de Pico Ruivo-hut vind je het PR 1.2-pad, dat naar Achada do Teixeira leidt. Bij Achada do Teixeira is de basaltrotsformatie "Staande Man" te zien, die zich bevindt op de afdaling na het passeren van de Achada do Teixeira-hut.

De Pico do Arieiro Pike, 1818 meter hoog, is de op twee na hoogste top van het eiland Madeira. Het is ten zeerste aangeraden om helemaal naar de top van deze berg te klimmen om te genieten van de geweldige schoonheid van het vulkanische landschap en zijn prachtige uitzichten.
Dit is zo goed als mogelijk! Deze wandeling geeft je een completer beeld van de echte schoonheid van dit eiland. Rotsformaties lijken de hemel te willen bereiken als reusachtige sculpturen. Gedurende de hele tour zijn de uitzichten gewoon adembenemend.

A nice hike done with guide Sergio who explained everything step by step. My fitness wasn't great but with each climb we took a rest so everyone could come along, even me. Have a nice day.

The tour was really beautiful; we had the best weather, so we had a wonderful view. We were picked up directly at the hotel, which was very convenient. Sergio, our guide, always walked at the back so that no one could get lost and everyone could walk at their own pace.

The guide an tour were brilliant can't fault them at all was a good day out the summits are well worth the visit the only downside was a large section of pr1 is closed but that's not the tour operators fault

Already, namely the trail that joins the 2 summits is closed, the hike can not be done ... you just do the Pico Ruivo (same way out / back) then by van we leave on Pico Ariero, moreover we did the excursion in the rain and clouds so we saw nothing at all in terms of landscapes! This excursion should have been cancelled in my opinion because apart from if you are passionate about intense hiking , there was no point in walking in the cold and rain on arduous paths! I would not recommend it at all! Luckily thanks to Viator for allowing us compensation for this horrible day...
