Stop bij de heuveltop Wat Phnom voordat je een glimp opvangt van de tragische recente geschiedenis van Cambodja in het Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum en de Killing Fields in Choeng Ek. Begin je rondleiding in het Koninklijk Paleis van Cambodja, dat majestueus in het stadscentrum ligt, vlak bij het rivierfront. Verschillende gebouwen zijn open voor bezoekers, waaronder de ‘Silver Pagoda’ waarvan de vloer is bekleed met massieve zilveren tegels.
Ga door naar het Nationaal Museum. Het museum is gevestigd in een prachtig oud gebouw en is gevuld met kunst en kunstvoorwerpen die dateren uit het pre-Angkoriaanse tijdperk.
Aan de noordkant van de stad bevindt zich de heuveltoppagode van Wat Phnom, waarnaar de hoofdstad is vernoemd. Beklim de trap naar de top van de heuvel voor een fantastisch uitzicht op de stad hieronder.
Neem 's middags een kijkje in de tragische recente geschiedenis van het land met een rondleiding door de Tuol Sleng-gevangenis (S-21) en de Killing Fields in Choeng Ek, ontnuchterende herinneringen aan het kwaad van het Rode Khmer-regime. Hoewel het geen vreugdevolle rondleiding is, worden bij het bezoeken van deze monumenten sleutels ontgrendeld om de ontwikkeling van dit nog steeds ontwikkelende land te begrijpen

My tour guide Makara was very competent and comes to represent the historical and family connections of the royal family very well. He was punctual, friendly and attentive. A tour with him is recommended.
Though I have been before, this was the first time in Cambodia for my sister. Wonderful guide, very thorough with all the questions etc we had for him.
We had a really good trip, but came a little late from the start. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared his personal stories, making the trip extra exciting.
Booked online private tour with air con car, but on the last minute was notified that car was not available due to mechanical defects, car was substitute for TUK - TUK. however, was not impressed at the start but as we progressed it all worked well. my tour guide Vanna was excellent, he was extremely knowledgeable. We spent the right amount of time at each site which we appreciated. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Phnom Penh.
The tour guide was incredibly knowledgable and explained the recent history of Cambodia very well. It was just the right amount of time spent in each place and very thought provoking.

I was able to see the most important sites. Missed a few but that was fine. It was hot and lots of traffic. I ended the tour an hour early. Sol was my guide and he was nice but didn’t provide some information I overheard from listening to other tour guides. I wish he had allowed me to get the headsets to listen to the history at The Killing Fields and Genocide Museum. He told me he would explain but his Cambodian accent and outside noise made that complicated. He was good at stopping the driver so I could see some local street vendors. The Tuk Tuk driver was excellent and always on time with cold water. I appreciate the experience and the knowledge of what happened in Cambodian history.
Our tour guide Mr. Makara was great, he took us around Phnom Pen and showed us all important sites. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Cambodia and national culture. I recommend.

This full day tour was very good. Our guide was very informative and spoke great English. Our lunch was delicious and we got plenty of water along the way.
