Perugia is de stad van de omgekeerde uitzichten: om de stad in te komen, moet je de kelder van de heuvel in, je moet altijd in beweging zijn om het beste uit elke hoek te halen, je zult nooit een vast punt vinden van waaruit je heb een overzicht van het geheel ... maar dan openbaart de stad zich als zoet ... als een kus van chocolade en hazelnoot.

We beginnen vanaf Piazza Italia om af te dalen naar de Rocca Paolina, een hele ondergrondse wijk begraven door de pauselijke wil die ons heen en weer zal vervoeren in de tijd, van de Etrusken naar Garibaldi en La Belle Epoque. We zullen de Porta Marzia zien, de oude zuidelijke ingang van de Etruskische stad met overblijfselen van inscripties en het pauselijke wapen.
Daarna gaan we verder naar de woonkamer van de stad, Corso Vannucci, gewijd aan Perugino, een schilder wiens meesterwerk (het Collegio del Cambio) uniek blijft in heel Italië: het is een bank uit 1500 die volledig is beschilderd door de kunstenaar. In de Corso wisselen de terrassen van de bars, de etalages van de prachtige kledingwinkels en die van typische producten elkaar af.
We komen aan op Piazza IV Novembre waar de Fontana Maggiore trots domineert, een compendium van populaire wijsheid uit de dertiende eeuw, naast de kathedraal van San Lorenzo, het Palazzo dei Priori en het Palazzo dei Notari. Op het plein spelen we met de "hoekgezichten", we gaan er omheen om verrassende foto's te maken
We zullen eindigen bij het uitkijkpunt Porta Sole en hier zullen we nog een bijzonderheid van Perugia zien en zo ligt de stad in het landschap van zachtgroene heuvels bedekt met zilverachtige olijfgaarden.
Terwijl we terugkeren naar Piazza IV Novembre, zal ik je het verhaal vertellen van Luisa Spagnoli en haar beroemdste creatie: de Bacio Perugina

We had a wonderful tour our guide was very enthusiastic about the city. We learned about the founding of Perugia and the Roca Paolina…take the tour!!!

The was exactly as described in the ad no more and no less. Our guide Simone was knowledgeable and her English was excellent. She is very business like and direct. The tour started a little late but ended on time. We learned a lot about Perugia.

Perugia is a fascinating city, with a very long and fascinating history. Our guide, Isabella was outstanding. She is very knowledgeable, charming, and excellent at answering all of our questions. I would not hesitate to have her as a guide on a future trip to Umbria.
