Ochtend om 09:00 uur wordt u opgehaald bij uw hotel of de gewenste locatie in Hyderabad en vertrekt u voor een volledige daggeleide excursie naar het Weaving Village van Pochampally (02 uur rijden van Hyderabad) - waar u een mix van traditie, moderniteit, cultuur, geschiedenis waarneemt en natuurlijk de beroemde IKKAT. Het dorp staat bekend om de Pochampally-sari's. De stad met prachtige ambachten wordt vergaard door weelderig groen en heuvels. Deze schilderachtige habitat staat op de UNESCO-lijst van werelderfgoedlocaties als onderdeel van ‘Iconic saree weaving cluster in India’. Pochampally heeft traditionele weefgetouwen, waarvan het ontwerp meer dan een eeuw oud is. Koesterend onder de glorie op gelijke voet met de wevers van andere plaatsen, is Pochampally weave in de volksmond bekend als tie and dye weave. Het unieke is dat het ontwerp en de kleur eerst op ketting- en inslagdraden worden overgebracht en vervolgens samen worden geweven. De stof is meestal katoen, zijde en sico - een mix van zijde en katoen. In toenemende mate zijn de kleuren zelf van natuurlijke bronnen en hun melanges. De interacties tussen consument en wever leveren input voor nieuwe ontwerpen. De wevers van de oudere en nieuwe generatie hebben veerkracht getoond en zich aangepast aan de veranderende smaak van de consument. Bezoek de wevers, besteed tijd aan het leren kennen van hen, hun levensstijl en het proces van het weven van ikkat. Ga voor een traditionele lunch (op eigen kosten) en bezoek vervolgens het Pochampally-museum, gevolgd door een korte wandeling langs het meer en een bezoek aan het huis met 101 deuren! Rond 16.00 uur Je tour eindigt en je rijdt terug naar Hyderabad en brengt je om 18.00 uur naar je hotel of een andere gewenste locatie in Hyderabad.

Very good tour with personal knowledge of Hyderabad. Textile tour was amazing and great to see all of the different steps involved in making the final textile. More enjoyment of the tour, less with the pressure to buy at the subsequent musuems/store.

Great seeing how done textiles are made but most of it was just a sales pitch to get us to buy over priced trinkets. If you are nervous about shipping on your own and are willing to pay 2-5 times the market rate to have a good guide this may be for you. If you are looking for an in depth understanding of cultural/historical textile manufacturing you may be better served on another tour.
Srinivas our guide gave us a most enjoyable day. We visited a village where we saw the tie dye process and walked through the village. We visited beautiful shops. It was a long drive out of hydrabad but our driver got us through the traffic efficiently. It was good to learn so much about India and the area of Hydrabad from a resident of the area

Mr. Srinivas gave me the most wonderful solo tour of Bhoodan Pochampally. He was a wonderful host and incredibly knowledgeable. The village that we visited for handmade ikat was amazing. You get to learn about the process for making this very special fabric from start to finish. We met artists in their homes and watched them create. I bought beautiful fabric that I will cherish forever. It was such a great experience to go outside of the city and see village life as well.

Amazing trip! Even the drive there was full of fascinating information about India and Hyderabad. Then we went into the dye and weaving houses to see the process of making this amazing saris. I came out of it with a greater appreciation of the art, as well as the time, effort, and skill involved in making them. It makes the stunning sari fabric I bought even more special. That was a theme with Srinu as my guide - not only did I have opportunities to see and purchase amazing textiles, pearls, and bidri metalwork, but every stop focused on showing me the beautiful art and educating me on the details and the process. Absolutely a great use of your time in India!
