Deze prachtige tempel gewijd aan Lord Rudreshwara (Shiva) en werelderfgoed werd gebouwd in de 13e eeuw tijdens het bewind van de Kakatiya-heerser Ganapati Deva. De zandstenen structuur is een opmerkelijk stuk architectuur met zijn versierde balken en pilaren van gebeeldhouwd graniet. Een onderscheidend kenmerk van deze tempel is het gebruik van lichtgewicht poreuze stenen of 'zwevende stenen', om het gewicht van de dakconstructie te verminderen.
De Bhadrakali-tempel is een van de oudste tempels gewijd aan de aanbidding van de moedergodin. Het is deze godheid van de godin die de Kohinoor-diamant had zoals hij in de 14e eeuw het oog verliet. Het is gebouwd in 625 na Christus en ligt in een schilderachtige omgeving aan de oevers van het Bhadrakali-meer. De tempelstructuur wordt ondersteund door vierkante pilaren, een uniek stijlstatement in de architectuur. Een hoogtepunt van deze tempel is het beeldhouwwerk van een woeste leeuw, het heilige voertuig van de godin, tegenover het heiligdom.
Onze eindbestemming in de rondreis door Warangal is de Thousand Pillar Temple, een van de mooiste exemplaren van de Kakatiya-architectuur. Gebouwd in 1163 na Christus door koning Rudra Deva, heeft de tempel drie heiligdommen, die zijn gewijd aan Lord Shiva, Vishnu en de zonnegod. De tempel heeft 1000 pilaren, die elk zijn verfraaid met rijk houtsnijwerk. Het hoogtepunt van de architectuur is dat de 1000 pilaren zo zijn geconstrueerd dat geen van hen het zicht op het heiligdom belemmert. De hele tempel lijkt op de vorm van een ster en de pilaren hebben ingewikkelde gravures van kunstwerken erop. Het ontwerp van de tempel is zodanig dat de ochtendstralen van de zon direct op de Shiva Lingam vallen.

We had an enjoyable trip to Ramappa temple, the 1000 pillar temple and Badrakali temple with a knowledgeable guide. She explained the history of the temples and the Kakatheya empire. The tour had a comfortable SUV and the driver was good at navigating traffic. Overall a very enjoyable trip, I recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning about history of the region.
My teenage son and I had a great day. It is a long car trip, but our guide, Sashi, and the driver made sure everything was taken care of. Their flexibility and attention really made the trip feel customized to us. Ramappa Temple is a fantastic blend of engineering and craftsmanship. At the temple we met an additional expert guide who showed us all of the details and explained the meaning behind them. One thing I wish I had known was that since shoes must be removed when visiting active temples, sandals or other easy-off shoes are ideal.
The trip to visit the three temples, with Ramappa being the highlight, was outstanding. Such an immersing experience and absoulutely worth it. Sainath is a fantastic guide and so knowledgeable. He really took his time to explain details and guide around the temples. The food was also excellent.
PhD Sathish was very professional and knowledgeable about Indian history. He was great detail to induce rich Indian history. We had great trip.

The guide, Srinu, was very knowledgeable, the temples very fascinating, and lunch was delicious as well. My only marks against the tour are: 1) The fact it's a 4 hour trip each way, which wasn't clear from the info here. Knowing that ahead of time would have been nice to be able to plan accordingly. 2) After getting back to Hyderabad we went to a shop with an *extremely* pushy owner who wouldn't accept no for an answer and just kept pestering me to buy very expensive things. Having to tell a guy no over and over again for 30 minutes is not my idea of fun and really took away from the experience.
Again another great history tour from our guide (Srinu).learned another interesting history about the India's hyderabad region. Showed us the cuisine of the area. Again if you like history of other countries this is the way to go.

The guide Sainath was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing not only detailed historical facts but also captivating stories that made the history come alive. Our driver Veera was equally impressive – he drove smoothly and safely, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing ride for all of us. On top of that, he was extremely courteous and attentive to my needs. The food was another highlight, offering an authentic taste of local cuisine that was both delicious and satisfying. This tour is highly recommended, especially with Sainath and Veera leading the way. Their passion and professionalism made it an unforgettable adventure!
The visit to this temple was worth the travel time of 4 hours one way. It was the most beautiful, esthetically pleasing temple so far and the amazing mason work most impressive. A highlight of my trip to India! 😎😊👍🙏
