We’re very pleased to hear that you found the show highly entertaining and enjoyed the performances, energy, and audience interaction. Ultimately, that is what your ticket purchase is about—the production and entertainment on stage—and based on your comments, it sounds like the show itself delivered a fun and memorable experience and provided good value for your ticket price. We’re sorry that the venue itself was not what you expected. GTS Theatre is intentionally a small, intimate cabaret-style theatre, which creates the up-close interaction that many of our guests enjoy. Our focus has always been to put our investment into the quality of the show and the entertainment on stage rather than elaborate surroundings. This allows us to keep our ticket prices within a comfortable range so that more people can experience live entertainment. Presenting a production of this size in a larger, more elaborate venue would come with considerably higher operating costs—and ultimately a significantly higher ticket price for our guests. We would, however, like to clarify the description of our seating. The term “plush” comes directly from the chair manufacturer and refers to the chairs’ 3-inch padded seats, which are substantially more padded than typical banquet-style seating. VIP and Gold are seating categories based on location and the experience offered within our intimate venue; they are not intended to suggest traditional large-theatre luxury seating. Our productions also use professionally produced backing tracks rather than a live band. Because GTS Theatre is an intimate venue with a smaller stage and a very large cast, a live band would take up a significant amount of the available stage space, and there simply isn’t room to accommodate both comfortably. Additionally, in a venue of our size, the volume of a full live band could easily become overwhelming for the audience. The professionally produced backing tracks allow us to feature our large cast while maintaining a balanced sound appropriate for the size and intimacy of the theatre. We appreciate your comment regarding expectations and understand the importance of making the format of the show clear to guests before they arrive. As for dressing up, we want our guests to enjoy making a night at the theatre as special as they would like, but formal attire is certainly not required. We appreciate your compliments about the show as well as the opportunity to clarify these points for future guests. We’re so glad you enjoyed the singing, stage production, sound, costumes, and overall entertainment. We would, however, like to clarify that we never pressure our guests to participate in the couples dance or any other audience participation. Just as guests are invited to stand and be recognized for an anniversary, birthday, or military service, participation in the couples dance is always completely your choice. We want everyone to enjoy the show in whatever way makes them most comfortable. The Soul Train line is actually a very popular part of the Original Motown Tribute Show. Occasionally, we have a night when fewer guests choose to participate, but on most nights the Soul Train line wraps around the theater. Again, participation is completely optional, and guests are always welcome to remain seated and enjoy the fun from their tables. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the length of the show and the intermission. We take all guest comments into consideration, and we’re very happy to hear that you felt the singing, stage show, sound, and outfits were all excellent.
