Vertrek vanaf het hotel om 9.00 uur in de richting van de parochie van Camacha om de rieten fabriek en al zijn processen te observeren. Daarna, klim op 1818m naar Pico do Areeiro, waar u de prachtige bergen en omliggende valleien en zelfs de parochie van Curral das nuntas kunt observeren, diep in een van de grote valleien. Afdaling naar Ribeiro Frio, waar een kweekplaats van forel is die later in de beek wordt gedropt. Een bezoek aan het centrum van Santana wordt gevolgd om de typische driehoekige huizen met rieten dak te observeren, gevolgd door een andere stop in Faial. Als u terugkeert naar Funchal, heeft u nog twee haltes, bij de belvedère van Ponta de São Lourenço en Machico. Keer terug naar het hotel voor 17:00 uur

Camacha is een mooi dorp gelegen in een bosrijke omgeving, op een hoogvlakte, in het noordoosten van Funchal, op Madeira. Dit dorp staat bekend om zijn uitstekende inkorving en zijn folkloristische groep.
Laat je verrassen door de indrukwekkende uitzichten van de op twee na hoogste berg van Madeira. Pico do Areeiro Pico do Areeiro © F.C. Madeira Tourism De Pico do Arieiro Pike, 1818 meter hoog, is de op twee na hoogste top van het eiland Madeira. Het is ten zeerste aangeraden om helemaal naar de top van deze berg te klimmen om te genieten van de geweldige schoonheid van het vulkanische landschap en zijn prachtige uitzichten.
Ribeiro Frio is een prachtige plek, omringd door aromatische bossen, en biedt een gastvrije omgeving. De heuvels zijn bezaaid met tal van plantensoorten en vormen het bosdeel van Madeira. Hier, dankzij de voordelen voor het milieu, is er een kleine forellenkwekerij geïnstalleerd. Vanzelfsprekend is de forel een van de meest aanbevolen gerechten in het naburige restaurant.
Hoofdstad van Santana met een ongelooflijk uitzicht op de Adelaarssokkel, Porto Santo, Ponta de São Lourenço en de boerendorpen die na Ribeiro Frio zijn overgestoken.
Santana is een van de mooiste en meest kleurrijke dorpen van Madeira. Hier woonden de inwoners in prachtige houten huisjes met daken die eindigden in de smalle kop (Palheiros). Sommigen van hen overleven nog steeds tussen de moderne constructies, vooral die dicht bij het Queimadas-gebied.
Je bezoekt Ponta de São Lourenço en je ervaring wordt verrijkt door een gids te hebben die wijst op inheemse vegetatie en dieren in het wild, die je misschien zou missen als je alleen was.
De stad Machico neemt een kleine kreek in de monding van de vallei van de Ribeira de Machico. Hier vond de landing van Zarco op Madeira voor het eerst plaats in 1420, en beweerde Portugal een eiland dat al sinds de oudheid bekend was bij de matrozen.

Sommige gebieden, waaronder voetgangerszones, historische straten in Funchal en locaties met beperkte toegang voor het type vervoer dat wij gebruiken, zijn mogelijk niet geschikt voor directe ophaalservice. Als uw accommodatie zich buiten ons ophaalgebied of in een zone met beperkte toegang bevindt, verzoeken wij u ons uw volledige adres door te geven, zodat we u naar het dichtstbijzijnde beschikbare ontmoetingspunt in Funchal kunnen verwijzen. Onze activiteiten worden doorgaans in groepen van ongeveer 16 deelnemers uitgevoerd. Tijdens drukke periodes kan het type vervoer echter worden aangepast en het aantal deelnemers per groep worden verhoogd, afhankelijk van de beschikbaarheid en logistieke vereisten.

Punctual pick-up at the hotel. The guide "Alli" was at the top, combining advice, humor and taking care of everyone. The one-day visit was brilliantly conducted. Only regret the lunch stop in SANTANA without a real restaurant proposal, fortunately our friend Google guided us very well. Thanks to Madeira and Alli. Too bad the WEST tower was not at the same height of satisfaction.

I can't rate our driver today 01.03.2026 Paulo highly enough. He was so knowledgeable about Madeira and willing to share it during the whole day trip. He explained everything possible about the island and the islanders as he drove along. He was very professional, courteous, funny and engaging. The trip was amazing with fabulous sights to see.

A most enjoyable tour, the weather was just perfect for the time of the year. Our guide Renato who also was the driver was very knowledge. He explained things well and with the questions very patient had also a good sense of hummor. I highly recommend this tour the stops were evenly spread out which was great.

We took a tour by minibus to the east of the island on 17/8/2025. Our guide Paulo Coelho made the experience memorable: he shared his vast knowledge about the island’s history, its people and how they live, as well as the places we were going through. We always had time to explore ourselves too. Careful and efficient driving. We learned a lot and definitely recommend.

This was a really great day out. Our tour guide Patrick was asked to take the tour last minute due to an illness. He was so knowledgeable. Such a great guy and he explained so much about the areas we visited and also the background of Madeira. I felt safe as he drove us around the island. The group was very friendly too. My husband and I both really enjoyed this tour. Can highly recommend.

Interesting activity if you want to discover some parts of the island. However, many places are not marked on their program such as the visit to the distillery of Rhum or the Cristo Rei. Our French guide was cancelled at the last moment and we had to follow explanations in English and Portuguese. During the meal we were dropped in the city of Santana in a heavy rain with only explanation of the meeting time. The bus left to park 2 km outside the city and we had no place to eat away from the wind and rain. Restaurants are present but we had planned our own food so it was impossible to take shelter without eating. We contacted customer service because the guide was unreachable and after an hour and a quarter, after discussing with them, they organized so that we could get back on the bus. The rest of the group did not get this favor. No other excursions are planned in case of bad weather, for our case we stayed on the bus a good part of the tour during stops. Also it is forbidden to eat on the bus. However, it is a good activity if the weather is favourable.
This is the 3rd time we have come to Madeira and the 2nd time we have done this mini-bus excursion. The price of €30 per person is competitive and even better, if you take the 2 tours (East and West), it will only cost you €55. The eastern tour is well designed to fill the day with a lunch stop in Santana in front of the typical small houses with thatched roofs. - The driver guide - different from that of the west tour - is pleasant and a perfect driver. Our small group of 16 people was easy to navigate. - With the Saint Laurent point, the Rivière Froide natural park and the Arieiro peak, this circuit is wilder than that of the west. - Only one regret: The planned 20-minute stop at Machico beach (the only one with blond sand imported from the Moroccan Sahara) did not take place and that is very regrettable! - This tour of the east is a cheap way to fill a great day in Madeira.
The tour guide was funny and engaging. I think it was Renauldo. He took us to fun places all day including the rum factory. Highly recommended.

I did both coasts but I loved the east both dramatic scenery and beautiful areas. Very pretty along the way, we loved the whole day, and the lovely houses made it perfect,
Just beautiful! Except at the end, ten brakes failed. Luckily we were home, but the others weren't. Too bad.
