Betty’s Hope was de pionierssuikerplantage van Antigua, gesticht rond 1650. De plantage ligt nu in puin, net als zoveel andere West-Indische suikerplantages. De oprichter van Betty's Hope was gouverneur Keynell, wiens weduwe het landgoed erfde na zijn dood in 1663, maar tijdens de Franse bezetting in 1666 werd gedwongen Antigua te ontvluchten. Tegenwoordig kunnen bezoekers, hoewel het project nog steeds op weg is naar voltooiing, nog steeds nieuwe en verbeterde tentoonstellingen bekijken, een wandelpad volgen om de blootgestelde ruïnes en de plaatselijke flora te bekijken, uitrusten op de picknickbanken, genieten van interpretatieve bewegwijzering en zelfgeleide brochures voor de volledige geschiedenis van dit monument.
Devil's Bridge is een natuurlijke rotsboog in het oosten van Antigua. Het ligt aan de Atlantische kust nabij Indian Town Point, ten oosten van Willikies. Het gebied rond de boog beschikt over verschillende natuurlijke blaasgaten die water omhoog schieten en spuiten, aangedreven door golven uit de Atlantische Oceaan. Deze specifieke locatie wordt blootgesteld aan golven die worden voortgestuwd door de passaatwinden, omdat er geen land is tussen deze locatie en Europa. In 2008 werd het uitgeroepen tot Nationaal Park.
In het begin van de achttiende eeuw erkende de Britse Royal Navy het strategische belang van English Harbor bij het beschermen van schepen tegen orkanen en in zijn positie in het zuiden van het eiland voor het monitoren van de Franse marine-activiteit. Tegenwoordig biedt Nelson's Dockyard vele locaties en activiteiten die bezoekers kunnen verkennen en genieten.
Shirley Heights, genoemd naar de voormalige gouverneur Sir Thomas Shirley. Shirley Heights kijkt uit op English Harbour en Galleon Beach en is een van de beste plekken om het eiland in vogelvlucht te bekijken.
Deze zeer bochtige en steile plattelandsweg voert je door het regenwoud, dat rijk is aan bladeren, planten, mango's, ananassen, bananenbomen (vijg is het Antiguaanse woord voor "banaan") en meer.

Had a great private 2-person tour (can book up to 6) with Kareem. He took us to all we wanted to see & more, was very knowledgeable & informative, asked all of our questions, and got us back to the port with plenty of time to spare. Highly recommend!

Make sure you get on the correct tour. Several were leaving at the same time. Our ticket was not checked and we ended up on wrong tour. It was quickly taken care of and we did get on our correct tour. The itinerary was great and we had a lovely tour of the entire island. Our tour guide was nice but he did not give us a guided tour of Nelson’s Dockyard or Betty’s Hope plantation . We were allowed to wander on our own but it would have been nice to have more of an explanation.

Had an AMAZING experience with Kareem yesterday on our tour of Antigua. He was very friendly and so knowledgeable about the history of his country. He also told us about the typical foods that are eaten here and how to prepare some of them. Since we love trying new foods we were so appreciative of his culinary skills too! Kareem was a real sweetheart as he made sure the car was kept cold for us in between the stops as it was +33 degrees yesterday!! He also made sure we were well hydrated by providing us with ice cold beverages. Kareem asked us at the start of the tour if there was anything special we would like to do on our tour and happily stopped at a local store so we could buy a few souvenirs. We were back at our resort by 2:30 so we were able have lunch and sit on the beach for a few hours. Thank you to Kareem for making yesterday a special day we wont soon forget!! 😊

My husband and I did this tour yesterday with Kareem. He was AWESOME! Super friendly and gave us a lot of really interesting information. He also answered any questions we had. He was also very accommodating at the beginning and said if there’s anywhere we want to go that isn’t on the itinerary, please tell him and he would make it happen. It also wasn’t too long, from 9am - 2:30ish pm, but that was perfect. Sometimes these all day tours can be exhausting, but it was the perfect amount of time to see what we wanted and still come back to our resort after and have plenty of daylight left to relax by the beach. Definitely would recommend!

Loved every stop. Photo opportunities everywhere. Views are awesome. If you get close to the Devils bridge look out for water spray on your camera lens. Betty Hope has some good history to learn as well as Nelson dockyard, and some nice boats there too.

We were met by Kareem who took us around Antigua and was very knowledgable and helpful throughout the day. We were picked up by Kareem from our hotel and our first stop was Bettys hope, we also did Nelson’s dockyard, Shirley heights and Devils bridge. Kareem was amazingly knowledgeable and a great host. It is a private tour so you can basically go where you want to. Don’t hesitate to book.
