Met deze privédagtrip vanuit Zagreb krijgt u de gelegenheid om enkele van de beroemdste en best bewaarde Kroatische kastelen te zien en de geplaveide straten van een stad die vaak "Klein Wenen" wordt genoemd, te verkennen. In het Trakošćan-kasteel ervaart u een echte sprookjesachtige sfeer terwijl u door de kasteelzalen en rond het pittoreske meer loopt en in de barokke stad Varaždin zult u getuige zijn van een goed bewaard gebleven historische architectuur en een bruisend lokaal leven. We beginnen deze privédagtrip met afhaling bij uw accommodatie op het gewenste tijdstip.
Na een aangename rit door het prachtige landschap bereiken we Trakoscan - het beroemdste en best bewaarde Kroatische kasteel. Kasteel werd voor het eerst gebouwd in de late 13e of vroege 14e eeuw als een kleine verdedigingsvesting. Complex van Trakošćan we hebben vandaag, een romanticistische synergie van architectuur en natuur, is een resultaat van de 19e eeuw. Kasteel werd gereconstrueerd in neogotische stijl en het omringende landschap inclusief een meer ontstond naar het voorbeeld van het Engelse park. Je ziet een waardevolle verzameling schilderijen, meubels en wapens en geniet van een wandeling rond het pittoreske meer rond het kasteel.
Varazdin, vaak "Klein Wenen" genoemd, is een stad in Noord-Kroatië die bekend staat om de intacte barokke architectuur. Je wandelt door de geplaveide straten van de stad om historische pleinen, kerken en paleizen, het charmante stadhuis en het belangrijkste culturele monument van de stad te zien - de gotische renaissance oude binnenstad of het kasteel van Varazdin met een museum (museum is op maandag gesloten). Het is ook mogelijk om een begeleide stadswandeling door een lokale ervaren gids te regelen. Na de sightseeing heb je wat vrije tijd voor een kopje koffie op het centrale plein of je gids kan je een van de lokale restaurants aanbevelen voor de lunch.

We were met promptly at our hotel by Tom from Mapping Croatia. He spoke perfect English and told us some of the history of what we were going to see as we left Zagreb. We walked through the town at the first stop, then walked through the palace. Very pretty, not super grand, but nice. We then got back in the car to continue to the second location. Gorgeous countryside, VERY windy roads, with continuous hairpin turns - unfortunately, I got very carsick. When we hit to the second castle, I was too ill to go up the hill to view it. I highly recommend this as a day trip from Zagreb, but also HIGHLY recommend taking something before the trip, if you are prone to motion sickness!! Thank you to Tom for a nice day and his kindness when I didn’t feel well!!
Lawrence was an amazing guide! He really made sure we got the most out of our trip. And Tamara was the local guide in Varaždin. She was extremely knowledgeable, and also seemed to know everyone in town! Make sure you ask her to get you the local pastry which is basically a delicious breadstick! This was a fantastic way to get to see an area of Croatia that isn't heavily travelled... at least not yet!
Great private tour! Tom was an amazing and a great tour guide. He picked us from our hotel and even provided us with umbrellas for the horrible weather. He guided us around the castles, giving us an insight to the history of the castle and town. We had a good laugh throughout our drive, and I'm sure we kept him entertained with our Scottish banter. He even provided us with recommendations for restaurants and other places to visit in Zagreb, Croatia. For our tour of Varaždin, we were lucky to have our tour guide Rajko. Being a history professor, we heard many stories and history of this town. Showing us different architecture, historical sites and the scenery of Varaždin.
