Het Titicacameer is het hoogst bevaarbare meer ter wereld en het huis van de handgemaakte drijvende eilanden Uros, waar de lokale bevolking een traditionele levensstijl leeft met de flora van het meer voor de huizen en boten.

Je wordt rond 9.00 uur opgehaald bij je hotel in Puno, vanwaar we naar de haven in Puno gaan en dan aan boord van een motorboot klimmen. We maken een prachtige motorboottocht (30 min.) tussen het riet, we komen aan bij Uros, een archipel van meer dan 60 kunstmatige drijvende eilanden bewoond door de Uros, een etnische groep vissers, onderdeel van een voorouderlijke groep. Eigenlijk zie je een aantal rieteilanden naast elkaar, met huizen en mensen erop. Je krijgt een rondleiding naar 2 of 3 eilanden, verken de omgeving op een authentiek rietvlot (optioneel) Terugkeer naar Puno, aankomst om 12.30 uur

This is well worth the money. A very cool cultural experience. The boat out to the islands is comfortable. The pick-up from the hotel, you need to be waiting OUTSIDE your hotel looking for the driver, he doesn't come in to collect you. The "optional" ride on a traditional boat is NOT optional it is required to get to the second island, you must bring soles with you to pay for this. It's not that fun of an experience as you think it would be. The tour guides are not very good either. He didn't project his voice so it's Very difficult to hear him. Once we arrived on a floating island, I had to ask him to wait for everyone else to arrive because he started explaining things before people had even gotten off the boat! Each time it was time to transition to the next, the guides we're rude and shouting at people, instead of politely notifying us it's time to go. But all in all, it's an inexpensive experience to have and I'm glad we went.
Really enjoyed hearing the history of the people and their story is certainly a fascinating one. I felt the experience a little uncomfortable, intruding on the personal space of an individual, but understand tourism is a part of their livelihood. Conflicted I guess. Beautiful to see a little of Lake Titicaca.
Wonderful trip to Uro Islands, and very friendly staff. It was a great experience to Lake Titicaca and visit amazing Islands.
