Wij nodigen u uit om enkele van de meest geïsoleerde plekken op het eiland te verkennen, zonder te ver van Funchal af te wijken. Terwijl u de smalle straatjes en steegjes van Estreito de Câmara de Lobos naar Fajã das Galinhas beklimt, zult u getuige kunnen zijn van enkele kenmerken die de Madeiraanse landbouw tot een unieke ervaring maken. Vanaf het Boca dos Namorados uitzichtpunt kunt u de geografische grandeur van dit eiland zien, terwijl u het uitzicht over de Curral das Freiras bewondert. Deze ruige vallei omringd door verticale bergen, diende als toevluchtsoord voor vele nonnen tijdens de moeilijkste tijd in de geschiedenis van Funchal. Loop bij Cabo Girão over een glazen platform dat 500 meter boven de oceaan hangt. Deze Seacliff is één van de hoogste ter wereld en van daaruit kunt u Funchal zien evenals het pittoreske vissersdorpje Câmara de Lobos. Dit kleine dorpje is een must-see stop voordat u terugkeert naar het hotel, omdat de schoonheid en charme niet onopgemerkt zijn gebleven bij enkele van de belangrijkste figuren van de 20e eeuw.

We did a half day Mountain Expedition trip on and off road with Antonio and had a terrific experience! Antonio was a very competent driver and was full of knowledge about the surrounding area and history of the island. Going up all those steep hills was quite an experience not to mention the off roading but we were in very capable hands which made it all an extremely enjoyable and exciting experience. Thoroughly recommend the trip!
Lots of fun, Antonio was very informative and helpful. Off road section was fun, kids especially enjoyed standing part. Stopped at a great bar for local drinks.
I highly recommend Madeira Expeditions. Victor was very professional guide and made us feel safe every part of the journey up to the top and back down the mountains. He explained ingredients in Poncho and the process making it. We also able to sample some rum and wine. He gave us ample amount of time to explore on our stops. Beautiful scenery and a good time had by all! 😎
Very enjoyable and informative trip! José was our driver and he had a great deal of knowledge on the culture, history and economy of the Island. The route was fascinating, passing through high mountain villages, up impossibly steep slopes and, at times, on off-road tracks. With three breaks at watering holes there was no hardship in the journey. Thoroughly recommend!!

Severino was a fantastic guide, full of passion & knowledge, really brought the tour to life. Incredible views throughout, but glad he was driving as the little roads and tracks are not for the faint hearted!
Great driver Pedro who gave us loads of interesting info. The valley & mountain views are stunning and it’s so, so quiet up there. Our favourite bit was the off roading!
