Our guide/driver was Jose Zescaleipa for a tour of the west of Madeira. The tour was amazing. And Jose was very outgoing and personable. Can’t go wrong with Green Devil Safari!
Incredible experience! Well worth it (I did the Northwest - Enchanted Terraces), you get to see so many beautiful things and our driver Pedro (Peter) Ponchal was so knowledgeable, skilled and friendly and made sure we enjoyed every second of the journey. He even tailored it when certain were shut so we can still learn/do/try things which are authentic to Madeira. I cannot thank him enough, he deserves a promotion!
Pick up at hotel on time. Driver - Pedro - very friendly and knowledgeable. Driving safely on sometimes deserving roads. Lots to see and experience. Can only say, thanks to Pedro. If on the island this is one of tours to do.
Great day with our guide/driver Lino. Departure on time, good contact and presentation of the day. Careful driver, speaking French, and expert guide to places to visit. We had a great safari on Serra De Água, Ginjas, Poúl Da Serro, Fanal, Porto Moniz, Seixal. I highly recommend Green Devil 4x4 safari
We had a great day! So much seen and experienced in 1 day. Beautiful places in Madeira that you can never find yourself. Happy bit off-road. Our guide/driver Louis was the perfect companion with his humor.
We had a great day with Décio on this tour! He was a great driver and a super-engaged guide who did his absolute best to make it a wonderful experience for us - I'm pretty sure he even moderated his driving on the off-road bits so our skinny seven-year-old would find the bumps fun rather than scary. Décio was a bit worried about the weather at Fanal, but we found the mist to be exactly the right kind of atmospheric - and once we descended into Porto Moniz, things looked up for a lovely time at lunch. We also had a great time at Seixal, though I recommend wet shoes if you're intending to go for a dip. All in all, it was a great day, and Décio was an amazing guide - thank you so much!
Plenty to see and do on the trip and highly recommend it.....10 out of 10 and a great experience. Climate change was unreal
Would give this company 6 stars if I could! We hired a car in Madeira, but this tour added so much to our experience and took us to places I would never have found (or been able to drive to!) Our guide, Nuno, had incredible local knowledge and driving skills, and really made our North West tour a trip to remember. We stopped along mountain roads for him to pick us fresh herbs, saw so many different fruit trees, stopped for delicious poncha in Sao Vicente, and saw some of the most beautiful views on the island. The offroad section was a particular highlight, as were the thrilling village roads. Feels just like you're in Jurassic Park/Middle Earth. I would book again in a heartbeat - thank you for such a memorable day!
We were 8 people in a 4x4 van for the "Journey to East Lava Pools and the West" excursion, and we were all really happy with it! Great and dependable company, timing was perfect and we got back to the ship in plenty of time before sailing. It went exactly as described: we got out to walk at the water channels in a charming forest area, had time at the "Enchanted Forest", great lunch stop, and two stops at different lava pools with chance to swim. Guide/Driver Diego was great. We went in mid-April and the water in the lava pools (we stopped at two different locations) was really cold (sea water, not warmed up), but bearable for a short time, and worth the experience. The island is absolutely gorgeous and this tour was perfect for seeing it! In one section we were off road on dirt and big stones, so bumpy! The rest of the time we were on the paved highways.
Our guide for the day was Dino. Friendly, humorous and informative. Pick up was easy, a stone’s throw from our hotel in Funchal. The Land Rover can fit 8 people but there were only 3 on our tour. We headed west out of Funchal and then north to Serra de Agua where there was a quick pit stop for coffee and pastel de Natas then onwards and off road climbing through the forest up towards Estanquinhos. There were stops along the way to walk a levada and admire and photograph the stunning views. Eventually, we emerged onto the plateau and headed northwest onto the eerie forest at Fanal and its 800 year old trees. From there the tour descends to Ribera da Janela and it’s photogenic rocky islet before continuing west to Porto Moniz for an excellent and typically Madeiran lunch, tomato soup with a poached egg in it (don’t knock it until you’ve tried it) and tuna with pepper and onions. After lunch and exploring the natural pools we followed the coat east to Seixal with its black volcanic beach and big breakers. Last stop was Sao Vincent’s for a taste of Madeira wine and a cheeky Pescador’s Poncha before heading back to Funchal.
