Thank you for sharing your opinion. I completely understand that the experience may feel different depending on the season and the number of visitors. However, it is important to understand that turtle nesting is a highly regulated activity precisely because sea turtles are endangered and their protection must come before tourism or entertainment. The limited observation time is not a flaw in the tour; it is part of the conservation measures designed to minimize human impact on the turtles. Expecting longer or closer encounters simply for the sake of a more “memorable” experience would actually go against the purpose of protecting these animals. Tortuguero is a destination centered around nature and wildlife, and besides the turtle tour, there are canoe tours, rainforest walks, wildlife observation and many other experiences. I’m sorry that the experience did not meet your expectations, but I believe it is important to appreciate that in a protected natural environment, the animals’ wellbeing should always come before the tourists’ expectations.

Tourists are not allowed to enter the beach with their own flashlights, including red-light flashlights. Only certified guides are authorized to carry and use the appropriate red light during the turtle observation. This rule is in place to protect the turtles and minimize any disturbance during the nesting process. We really appreciate your feedback, and we will make sure to explain this regulation more clearly to our guests beforehand.
