Nara is een oude hoofdstad van Japan en biedt een zeer traditionele sfeer die anders is dan Kyoto of Tokio. Deze stad is een zeer populaire bestemming als gebied waar je vanuit Kyoto en Osaka een dagtrip naar toe kunt maken. Deze tour wordt geleid door een nationaal erkende gidstolk. We nemen een trein naar Nara op het station van Kyoto nadat we een gids hebben ontmoet in je hotel in Kyoto.
Nara Park is een van de beroemdste gebieden in Nara City. Het uitgestrekte gebied beslaat 660 hectare en staat bekend om zijn vrij rondlopende herten en wereldberoemde tempels. Je kunt speciale crackers kopen en de herten voeren.
Het 25 meter hoge bouwwerk is een van de grootste tempelpoorten van Japan. Er staan beschermkoningen in donkere nissen aan beide zijden van de poort.
Todaiji is een van de beroemdste en historisch belangrijke tempels van Japan. De tempel werd in 752 gebouwd als hoofdtempel van alle boeddhistische tempels in Japan en werd zo machtig.
Kasuga Taisha wordt beschouwd als een van de meest heilige heiligdommen in heel Japan. Als een plek waar talloze goden zijn verankerd, trekt het zowel de lokale bevolking als toeristen aan die op zoek zijn naar een iconische Shinto-ervaring.
Isuien Garden is een prachtige Japanse tuin gelegen in Nara. Het staat bekend om zijn shakkei (geleend landschap) techniek, waarbij het omringende natuurlijke landschap, waaronder de berg Wakakusa, naadloos is opgenomen in het ontwerp van de tuin. Deze tuin sluit elke dinsdag, dus we gaan naar verschillende plekken als je deze tour op dinsdag boekt.

When tourists go visiting a country and choose a private tour guide to a city with great significance, the intent is to have insights, historical and cultural. Our tour lacked this completely. The guide was too new to the place to offer any insights. What the tour company missed completely is understanding what tourists like us expect from a private guided tour and selecting the right guide. Deeply disappointing. If I could figure out how to get to Nara and back by train, I wouldn’t need the tour at all. I don’t know what the tour company was thinking.

Our tour guide Akiko Okada made the day trip to Nara full of history, culture and a beautiful experience for my husband and I. We did not want it to end. She went above and beyond to share her knowledge with us and make us feel comfortable and engaged. We had several tours over the last 10 days and none were like this one. Jun was an amazing guide, extremely friendly and accommodating. We had an amazing time walking the temples, feeding the deer, and even made an additional stop to help me find a souvenir for my family. Everything was well organized, but flexible to our wants and pace.

Nara was a beautiful place and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. He took us to a great ramen spot and even made a quick stop at Fushimi Inari Shrine for us.

Such a lovely day trip. We were staying in Kyoto and Fumi picked us up at our hotel, guided us through the train station, and ensured we were comfortable. Conversation was very nice! Fumi was a joy to spend the day with. Seeing the deer was so special and Fumi had lots of great info to share with us. She took lots of great photos of us with our phones too! She took us to an excellent restaurant for lunch, and when we were tired from a busy week, she was so gracious to quickly adjust our schedule and ensure we made it back comfortably. We had never done a private tour guide before this trip but now, this will be a requirement when visiting new places! Highly recommend!!
