Nachtwandeling Masaya-vulkaan

Het Masaya Volcano National Park heeft een oppervlakte van 54 km² en omvat twee vulkanen en vijf kraters. De vulkanen zijn in de geschiedenis verschillende keren uitgebarsten en werden gevreesd door zowel de inheemse bevolking als de Spaanse veroveraars. De Spanjaarden doopten de actieve vulkaan "La Boca del Infierno" of "De mond van de hel". Ze plaatsten een kruis, "La Cruz de Bobadilla" (vernoemd naar pater Francisco Bobadilla), op de kraterlip in de 16e eeuw om de duivel uit te drijven.

Tijdens deze tour ontmoet je een van Nicaragua’s meest actieve vulkanen. Bij het vallen van de avond bereikt u de vulkaantop per voertuig. Wees getuige van een unieke natuurlijke gebeurtenis en zie een lavameer stromen vanaf de bodem van de krater, die een rivier van magma vormt die oplicht in het donker en het binnenste van de vulkaan verlicht. Het spektakel begint wanneer de hemel donker wordt of al donker is, waardoor je duizenden sterren kunt zien. De wind stroomt vrij. Je hoort een geluid als het gerommel van de zee. En vanaf de rand van de krater, recht naar de bodem ervan, zie je een verbazingwekkend lavameer dat beweegt met zijn gloeiende kleur. Het bezoek aan de krater duurt tussen de 10 en 20 minuten (afhankelijk van het totale aantal bezoekers bij de ingang). Elke dag, sinds zonsondergang, begint het bezoek aan Masaya Volcano Night Tour om 16.00 uur. Als er mensen of groepen voor u zijn, moet u in de rij staan, omdat bezoekers de krater mogen betreden en bezoeken in volgorde van aankomst.

I did the Masaya Volcano „night“-tour and the Aguas Agrias & Monte Verde chocolate tour. Both tours were amazing! Fredder is really nice and funny, and he has a lot of knowledge to share 😊 I really recommend this company!!
We had an excellent trip to Masaya Volcano where we saw the view both in daylight as well as at night. Abbott was an exceptional guide with great knowledge of the history of the area. He was also amazing at hearing all the different birds in the area & pointing them out. You will not be disappointed with this trip.

From the very beginning to end: 10/10 + brownie points to boot!! We booked a few activities with Next Adventure Nicaragua: 1. the Night Tour at Masaya: really cool to see the glow of lava!! And seeing steam coming from small hot pockets along our trail; it was interesting to witness, coming from the Arctic. 2. Chocolate Tour: leaning about the preparation of chocolate to making your own little chocolate bar was fun, and so was our host. 3. Zip lining on Mombacho Volcano, the guys were great with clear instructions, felt super safe and free, good for everyone!! You walk downhill yo the first platforms, then zipline further down the hill. Once you’ve completed the 5 ziplines, it’s another 5 minute walk downhill where a bus picks you up and drops you back where you started. So it’s good for anyone to take part in. We had a great time!! Booking with Next Adventure Nicaragua was one of the best choices we made. Moses was helpful in making suggestions and helping to get us organized with what activities we wanted to do, patient with all the questions I had, and answered all of them. Even sent me a video on how to make the booking as I kept reserving the wrong packages. They picked us up and dropped us off, they made it effortless and convenient for your travels in every way!!! Great team, great spirit! So many options of activities to choose from, sorry we didn’t have more time to do more!! Thank you guys for everything!!!!

Very fun activities, Moses was very professional, he saved us a lot of time and his company made our activity fun and enriching. Moises was an absolutely exceptional guide. He was well informed on all aspects of Nicaragua and was personable and fun. He has a really great and comprehensive perspective on the country, nature, and... just all of it! He turned our experience into an informative and awesome evening and was super flexible in accommodating our plans. Just for comparison- last time I went to the Masaya Volcano, I booked a different guide bc I didn't know any better. They essentially dumped us off, told us nothing, and charged a ton of money.
