Beschrijving
In verschillende winkels is er een permanent museum, met inbegrip van zeldzame truffeloutfits van lokale gerechten en wijn, het decor van de albese keuken van de zeventiende en negentiende eeuw, de distilleerderij van de achttiende eeuw, cooperatiewinkel, boerenkwekers. Graaf Camillo Benso di Cavour, een van de protagonisten van de vereniging van Italië, was de eigenaar van dit kasteel. Hier verbleef hij tussen 1832 en 1849, toen hij burgemeester van de gemeente Grinzane was. Hij moet ook interessant zijn om te ontdekken op het gebied van wijnbouw. In het kasteel zijn meubels, manuscripten en de Tricolor-band van de burgemeester bewaard gebleven.

Het kasteel, gebouwd in de eerste helft van de 13e eeuw, heeft verschillende architectonische veranderingen ondergaan. De meest recente renovaties vonden plaats in 1961, ter gelegenheid van het eeuwfeest van de Italiaanse eenwording. Het imposante gebouw van rode baksteen is gebaseerd op een trapeziumvormig plan, met vier onregelmatig geplaatste secties rond de kleine binnenplaats. Het werd in de 16e eeuw uitgebreid met twee pittoreske ronde torentjes; het cassetteplafond met 157 beschilderde panelen in de Hal van de maskers dateert uit dezelfde periode. Tegenwoordig herbergt het kasteel de regionale Enoteca "Cavour", een restaurant en een etnografisch museum over het plattelandsleven. De laatste biedt exposities over een verscheidenheid aan thema's: Cavourian relikwieën, wijnen uit Alba in de Romeinse wereld, 17e en 19e-eeuwse lokale keukens, wijnglazen, voorwerpen die betrekking hebben op Alba's eet- en wijntradities, de werkplaatsen van een smid en een kuiper, een 18e-eeuwse distilleerderij, erfwerktuigen, maten en gewichten, informatie over truffels.

This is where Cavour was mayor. The exterior is very striking with a 360-degree view of the hills, featuring an educational path about grape maturation. Inside, there is a grocery store and a bar that serves appetizers with a very skilled bartender, a sommelier. The visit to the rooms lasts about thirty minutes. Convenient parking. Well-maintained castle.
The castle towers majestically over the small hill. In the background you can see the maritime Alps of Piedmont. That's nice. The museum, too. But that's all.
The Castle of Grinzane Cavour: beautiful structure, perfectly preserved and immersed in a breathtaking landscape; the hills of the Langhe seen from here look like a painting. The visit to the castle is rich in history and curiosity, with well-equipped rooms and paths that tell in a clear and engaging way the figure of Cavour and the winemaking tradition of the territory. Also very interesting is the museum dedicated to truffles and local culture. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the organization impeccable. It is one of those places where care and respect for cultural heritage are perceived. An experience that I recommend to anyone visiting the Langhe: fascinating, suggestive and absolutely not to be missed.

Despite having been several times in the Langhe, we had not yet visited this wonderful castle! Beautiful outdoor area, a real open-air museum and very interesting interior where in addition to the history of Cavour, it becomes a museum of the territory and I must say that it is done really very well, I absolutely recommend it if you are in the area!
Mostly about wine and truffles. If you are looking for a “castle” experience, this isn’t for you. The outside grounds and views are spectacular.
Castle visited outdoors, formerly home of Camillo Benso Count of Cavour. Very nice, well-kept both the building and the park. Spectacular view, parking very close, very comfortable climb on foot although slightly uphill. Passing in the surroundings to be reckoned with.
Very nice and well maintained castle. For wine lovers it is a perfect place. Many explanations about wine and Cavour's life. I recommend it
Visit well organized by the volunteers of the fai, the visit lasts over an hour and all we are told is Interesting, good Silvia the guide but good also the rest of the volunteers. The castle lends itself very well to a guided tour. Being full of works of various kinds. Congratulations, everyone. 5 euros in two decidedly well spent.
The castle, at least from the outside, is very particular, but entirely not so interesting, although the large wine press at the entrance is undoubtedly something unique.
