Verlaat Barcelona en reis terug in de tijd met deze tour voor een kleine groep langs middeleeuwse dorpen in Catalonië. Bezoek de prachtig bewaard gebleven dorpen Besalú en Tavertet en kom van uw gids interessante feiten te weten over deze historische locaties. Profiteer van de vrije tijd in het dorp Rupit om de barokkerk van Sant Miquel te bezichtigen en een traditionele Catalaanse lunch te nemen (voor eigen rekening) in een plaatselijk restaurant. Geniet van het uitzicht over de restanten van het kasteel van Rupit, Catellfollit de la Roce en de zandstenen kliffen Cingles de Tavertet. 8.15 uur - Je begint je dag op ons hoofdkantoor, direct naast het beroemde Palau de la Musica. Je zult je gids ontmoeten, tijd hebben om de toiletten te gebruiken en misschien zelfs een snelle koffie pakken voordat de tour begint. Je gids legt alles uit over de komende dag en wat je kunt verwachten terwijl je wacht tot je tour vertrekt.
8.30 uur - Je verlaat Barcelona via het voorbeelddistrict van de stad. Terwijl je de stad verlaat, geeft je gids je een korte geschiedenis van Barcelona, voordat je achterover kunt leunen en ontspannen op de 90 minuten rijden naar Besalu.
10.00 uur - Het charmante middeleeuwse dorp Besalú is onze eerste stop van de dag. Je begint met een wandeltocht door deze oude stad en stopt om de straten met middeleeuwse architectuur te bewonderen. Je hebt vrije tijd om door de smalle straatjes te dwalen of een afgelegen café te vinden en achterover te leunen om mensen voorbij te kijken. Enkele van de hoogtepunten om te bezoeken zijn de 12e-eeuwse romaanse middeleeuwse brug, het 11e-eeuwse klooster van St. Pere en de joodse baden, ook wel bekend als de Mikveh, daterend uit de 12 eeuw.
12.30 uur - Vanuit Besalú gaan we naar Rupit. Onderweg komen we langs Castellfollit de la Roca, hoog aan de rand van een basaltafgrond. Het is een van de kleinste steden in Catalonië met slechts 1.000 inwoners die leven in slechts 3.280 vierkante voet (1.000 vierkante meter)
13.00 uur - Eenmaal in Rupit heb je ongeveer twee uur om op je gemak door dit prachtige gehucht te dwalen. Je kunt een wandeling maken over de geplaveide wegen omzoomd met 16e-eeuwse huizen, de hangende houten brug van de stad oversteken en een bezoek brengen aan Rupit's kerk van Sant Miquel uit de barokperiode. Hier luncht u ook. Er zijn een aantal traditionele restaurants om uit te kiezen. Uw gids zal u graag helpen, of zelfs een reservering voor u maken. Na de lunch kunt u de ruïnes van het kasteel van Rupit bezoeken op een schilderachtige rotsachtige piek, of u kunt zelfs een picknick nemen en daar buiten eten. Vanuit Rupit maken we een mooie rit naar de zandstenen kliffen bij Cingles de Tavertet.
16.00 uur - In Tavertet, het laatste middeleeuwse dorp dat we bezoeken, geniet je van een korte wandeling naar de prachtige kliffen met uitzicht op het Pantà de Sau-meer. Hoor een paar details over het dorp in je gids voordat je de 11e-eeuwse romaanse kerk van Sant Cristòfol bezoekt.
17.30 uur - Eindig je reis met een rit terug naar Barcelona, waar je zult genieten van vergezichten over groen-groene bossen zoals Magatalls, samen met het natuurpark El Montseny, dat op de UNESCO-lijst staat van man en biosfeer.
18.45 uur - Na een dag terug in de tijd zijn we rond 18.45 uur in Barcelona. Je gids zal je helpen bij het vinden van een taxi of de weg naar de metro om terug te keren naar je hotel, of een aantal restaurants aanbevelen waar je kunt dineren.

We very much enjoyed this tour and the cost was reasonable. It was a small group of 7 of us in a van fairly nice van. The villages were well worth the trip and Carme (sp?) did a fantastic job! She provided us a background on the area we were traveling through and told us about each village for a little while when we arrived at each location. Then we had a some time to explore on our own. The villages were quiet and the history was fantastic. Carme made sure we were comfortable, keep things moving in a timely way, made it fun, and provided exactly the right amount of information and direction. She even stopped once to let us view a village across the way that was built out on a peninsula like cliff, and then another time so we could look out over the mountains. It was beautiful. My one complaint was that, although she was a careful driver, she went pretty fast on those mountain curves. I guess she is used to that kind of driving. If we are ever in Barcelona again, we will do another day trip with this company.
Our guide was fantastic. The villages were absolutely stunning with just about the right amount of time spent at each village.
Quite a long day but very interesting. Beautiful views towards the pyrenees and picturesque villages visited. Older people may find some of the walking/steps difficult (we are in our 70s and reasonably fit). Our guide, Stephen was very knowledgeable. We really enjoyed the day

As the title says, I was blown away by this tour. It was a small tour with myself, 2 other people and our guide. She truly went above and beyond to ensure we learned about the history and culture of the villages we saw, and to help us feel comfortable. At the end of the tour we all hugged - honestly I have traveled for several decades and this was the first time this has happened. 5 stars.

Our tour guide, Berta, was absolutely fantastic! She took the time to explain the history in great detail, making every stop interesting and engaging. She also shared excellent recommendations for things to do during our free time, as well as the best places to eat and visit around Barcelona. One of the highlights of the tour was sampling delicious local food and drinks unique to Barcelona. Berta even took photos for us, which was a thoughtful touch. Throughout the tour, she regularly checked to make sure everyone was comfortable, asking if anyone needed a bathroom break, had food allergies, or was feeling dizzy or nauseous so she could take the necessary precautions. The small group size made the experience even better, allowing everyone to hear her clearly, ask questions, and truly enjoy each part of the tour. Overall, it was an amazing experience, well worth the trip, and one I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Barcelona.
What a fantastic tour! Make sure you are aware this is definitely a walking tour on a bunch of uneven ground, if you wanna get the most of it! Stunning Settings, delicious foods, and nice friendly interactions with everyone involved. Our tour guide, Jerome, beyond helpful, friendly, courteous, and overall a nice guy! Driving through the mountains was a breeze, and he took time to make sure we stopped and took beautiful pictures!
