Beschrijving
Mdina, de voormalige hoofdstad van Malta, ligt op een heuveltop in het centrale deel van het eiland en domineert meer dan tweederde van Malta. Het is een van Europa's mooiste voorbeelden van een oude vestingstad, gekenmerkt door middeleeuwse en barokke architectuur. Door de lokale bevolking bekend als de "Stille Stad", omsluit het binnen zijn muren paleizen van Maltese aristocratische families, waarvan de meeste secundaire huizen zijn. Als je door Mdina loopt, heb je het gevoel alsof de stad in de tijd is bevroren; de smalle kronkelende straatjes, majestueuze paleizen, kerken en binnenplaatsen maken deze stad uniek, een must-see tijdens je verblijf op Malta! Rabat, een buitenwijk van Mdina, is ook een historische stad met sterke religieuze banden. Volgens de traditie woonde St. Paul de Apostel tijdens zijn verblijf van 3 maanden op Malta in een grot onder de parochiekerk. Je gids leidt je langs enkele van de meest typische straten in Rabat en benadrukt de belangrijkste architectonische kenmerken terwijl je verder gaat.

Ontmoet je gids bij de hoofdingang van Mdina. Je gids houdt een City Walking Tours Malta. Tijdens deze wandeling leiden we je door dit betoverende stadje, langs de belangrijkste paleizen, kloosters, kerken en typische straatjes. Deze wandeling van 2 uur is de meest uitgebreide Mdina / Rabat-wandeling en is zo gepland om niets te missen dat de moeite waard is in de omgeving. Rabat ligt op slechts een steenworp afstand, dus we zullen ook de oude wijk bestrijken, waar u kunt genieten van Maltese lokale architectuur. Onze wandeling eindigt op het Sint-Paulusplein in het centrum van Rabat. Deze wandeling is rolstoelvriendelijk.

One of the best walking tours! Our guide Angele is the gold standard for walking tour guides. We learned so much about Malta/Mdina/Rabat’s history, culture, architecture, language. One of the highlights of our 3-day Malta visit. Highly recommend!!
Our guide Christine was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour of Mdina and Rabat allowed us to experience the true historical Malta. Christine shared various anecdotes about the island's history, creating an atmosphere of conviviality. We appreciated her suggestions on where to have lunch. The visit to Rabat was less engaging compared to Mdina, but perhaps that was due to the characteristics of the place. Our group was entirely composed of Italians. Thank you, Christine. We really enjoyed the walking tour of Mdina with Nadine. She was very knowledgeable - we learned more about Malta overall and Mdina in particular during those two hours than we did in the rest of our week on Malta. Meeting instructions were clear, headsets helpful for following commentary without disturbing others around us. Suggestions for things to see after the tour, and for pastizzi from Crystal Palace, were very helpful. Great value for the price too!
What a marvelous tour. Our tour guide was wonderful. She knew so much about not only the Historical past of Mdina, but also more recent fun facts. She was very accommodating and insightful and set a comfortable pace. The tour covered many interesting stops and the timing didn't keep us in the sun too much (but wear sunscreen, regardless). A lovely way to learn the history. I don't thing wandering the city unescorted would be even remotely as fun.

This was our first tour in Malta and it led us to book with City of Malta Walking tours for the Valletta tour too! I highly recommend this tour. Our guide Marisa was wonderful, very down to earth and funny at times she gave a great insight into Mdina and Rabat..What a beautiful place! The audio and earpiece set supplied was a great addition.
