Onze levendige stad heeft een rijk wandtapijt van smaken, doordrenkt van geschiedenis en geplaatst tegen de prachtige achtergrond van de Middellandse Zee. Geniet van stevige gerechten zoals berenjenas con miel (gebakken aubergine besprenkeld met honing) en geniet van zoete Málaga-wijn terwijl u zich onderdompelt in de gastronomische hoogstandjes van de stad. Of u nu bruisende markten zoals Atarazanas verkent of geniet van authentieke tapas in charmante tavernes, Málaga belooft een onvergetelijke culinaire reis. Onze reis begint op Plaza Enrique García-Herrera, een schilderachtig plein dat de essentie van de historische charme van Málaga weergeeft. Hier zal uw gids zichzelf voorstellen en een boeiend overzicht geven van de tour, en het podium voorbereiden voor een dag vol ontdekkingen en heerlijke smaken.
Vervolgens wandelen we naar de Mercado Central de Atarazanas, een bruisende markt gevestigd in een prachtig 19e-eeuws gebouw met een rijke geschiedenis die teruggaat tot de Moorse tijd. Deze levendige markt is een feest voor de zintuigen, met een scala aan verse producten, zeevruchten, vlees en lokale specialiteiten.
Vanaf de markt gaan we naar de Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica de la Encarnación de Málaga, vaak aangeduid als La Manquita (de eenarmige dame) vanwege de onvoltooide tweede toren. Dit architectonische meesterwerk combineert gotische, renaissance- en barokstijlen en biedt een kijkje in het rijke religieuze en culturele erfgoed van Málaga.
Onze volgende stop is het Romeinse theater van Málaga, een van de oudste monumenten van de stad. Dit oude theater dateert uit de 1e eeuw voor Christus en is een bewijs van het Romeinse verleden van Málaga. En ook uitzicht op het Alcazaba de Málaga.

We had a great tour. Jose is a fantastic guide and very knowledgeable about the city. This is our first time in Malaga so it was good to be shown around by someone who knows the city so well. I would highly recommend this tour if you are in Malaga for the first time. He took us to some very authentic places on the tour. We particularly enjoyed the market with the tasting of the olive oils and the olives. We finished the tour with a gelato, from the shop Jose went to as a child and still goes to now. We will be going back there as the gelato was delicious 😋

We had an amazing street food tour with Jose in Málaga and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. Jose is a super friendly and knowledgeable guide. We spoke in German and English, which made the whole experience very relaxed and personal. He shared lots of interesting stories and facts about Málaga that you would never discover as a normal tourist. The food and drinks were fantastic — delicious local food, great atmosphere and very good drinks as well. Everything felt authentic and carefully chosen. Jose clearly enjoys what he does and made the whole tour fun, easy-going and memorable. Highly recommended if you want to experience the real Málaga through food and local culture!

I was recommended to the secret food tours website by friends as a wonderful port excursion during my cruise of the Spanish coast, and I’m so glad I took their advice! The directions to the meeting place were perfect, our guide Ricardo was friendly, knowledgeable and very informed on the history and culture of the city. We had an olive oil tasting, a sampling of different prepared olive varieties, charcuterie, cheese, meatballs, sausage, fried cuttlefish, wine, sangria, Vermout, cake, ice cream … I was both well fed and more than a touch buzzed when we were done. Thanks to a combination of amazing markets, restaurants and taverns, a vibrant food culture, and an excellent and knowledgeable guide in Ricardo, I can heartily recommend this tour in Malaga.
