Een avontuur in de vroege ochtend om Calcutta wakker te zien worden. Ervaar Calcutta als Local en niet zomaar een toerist. Probeer verschillende vervoersmiddelen, lokale plekken en ga op in het verhaal van Calcutta, net als een lokaal. Deze tour is niet de gebruikelijke Heritage-wandeling, maar een antropologische ervaring met de stad en haar mensen. Het doel van de tour is niet alleen om de stad te begrijpen, maar ook om verliefd te worden op Calcutta en zijn lokale weefsel. De tour wordt geleid door Soham, de oprichter van Calcutta Capsule-wandeltochten, die door velen wordt beschouwd als de beste wandeltochtspecialist ter wereld (ref beoordelingen). Onder de hoogtepunten van de tour die we bezoeken: Oude Calcutta, Howrah-brug, Bloemenmarkt, Ganges/Ganga, Kumartuli -Idool makend dorp, Lokaal traditioneel ontbijt. Als je de sfeer van de stad wilt voelen en binnen een paar uur een gevoel van verbondenheid met Calcutta wilt ontwikkelen, dan is deze tour iets voor jou.

Elke ochtend, voordat de zon op is; terwijl de straatlantaarns van Calcutta uitgaan, beginnen we aan de Magic hour-tour om Calcutta Wake up te zien. We stappen op de eerste bus van de dag vanuit de oudste wijk van Calcutta terwijl de stad het betoverende Magic Hour binnengaat. De volgende uren slenteren door de slaperige 300 jaar oude plaats en brengen de oudste gebieden van Calcutta door. Voordat de bruisende gigantische stad ontwaakt, hadden we alle iconische vervoersmiddelen gebruikt, ontbeten op een eeuwenoude verborgen plek, geroddeld over Calcutta als een local, gesproken over zijn geschiedenis, antropologie en wanhopig verliefd geworden op de stad. De "onbegeleide tour" zoals wij het noemen, begint met Chai (thee) in een bhaad (aarden kopjes) en eindigt met een traditioneel Bengaals ontbijt, de beste zoetigheden van Calcutta. Enjoyed a fantastic “magic hour” tour of Kolkata! One of the highlights of my trip to India!. The tour included both food (chai and separate breakfast) in local venues I never would have found on my own and incorporated local travel modes that also would have been difficult to navigate as a foreigner. Tour was so insightful and thoughtfully laid out. I would highly recommend and would go out of my way to take his other tours when back in Kolkata!!!
This was such an amazing tour! I got to watch the city early in the day, the layers. It was a walking tour mostly but I was also on a bus, a boat and it was such a unique experience with the locals. I loved the food, stories, flower market and learning about the goddess Kali. I highly recommend.

I believe the best time to visit anywhere is in the early morning so I booked this tour for my partner and myself. And here in Kolkata I was right! What an amazing tour. In a tough city to get to the nitty gritty you need a hand and joining Soham on the Magic hour tour was just the hand needed. He has put his heart and soul into this tour and his knowledge and passion about his home city was infectious. With a city like Kalkata you need to scratch deep for its magic once you see it you never forget it. Great tour great city. Get your lazy ass out of bed and book it! Highly recommended. Thanks 🙏🏽
Soham is lovely, do this tour! (Or any of his others!) He is knowledgeable, eloquent and engaging, and the time flew by very enjoyably. He is from Kolkata and obviously loves sharing his passion about it. He will point out things you otherwise wouldn’t notice. It was good to do this trip soon after we arrived to help us get our bearings and ask some general questions. We are very glad we booked it, and we are not early morning people!!!!

What an amazing tour! Thank you Soham for showing the hidden gems of the city (which as tourist I wouldn’t be able to know without the local’s knowledge), he is such a great storyteller that makes the whole experience interesting and fun. I get to try different local transportation and learn the history of Kolkata, it’s truly an unique experience and I highly recommend people who visit the city for the first time to sign up for this tour!
