Maak je klaar voor een episch avontuur op Madeira! We beginnen bij Pico do Arieiro, waar u gefascineerd zult zijn door adembenemende uitzichten op dramatische toppen en de Atlantische Oceaan. We daalden af naar Poiso en doorkruisten het magische Laurissilva-bos, met zijn eeuwenoude bomen en de mist die elke stap omhulde. In Ribeiro Frio onthullen de paden en forelvijvers de uitbundigheid van de natuur. Cova da Roda biedt een oase van rust, waar de stilte alleen wordt verbroken door vogelgezang. De rieten huizen van Santana betoveren met hun levendige kleuren en traditionele charme, een echte ansichtkaart. De Guindaste biedt ons een spectaculair uitzicht op de oceaan en de grillige kustlijn, perfect voor foto's. Bij Ponta de São Lourenço verrassen de dramatische rotsformaties en de eindeloze zee, waardoor een landschap ontstaat dat buitenaards lijkt. Op 1818 meter boven zeeniveau ligt het derde hoogste punt van het eiland Madeira, Pico do Areeiro. Vanaf deze verhoogde locatie onthult het uitzicht een breedte die waarnemers in staat stelt hun blik uit te strekken over de unieke grandeur van het Madeiraanse bergmassief, met de Atlantische Oceaan op de achtergrond.
Met een totale lengte van 4,09 kilometer biedt het bezoekers een meeslepende ervaring in het berglandschap van de zuidkust van Madeira.
De Vereda dos Balcões is een korte wandelroute van 1,5 km (plus 1,5 km heen en terug) waarmee je kunt genieten van het uitzicht vanaf het uitkijkpunt Miradouro dos Balcões. Deze gemakkelijke route, die begint op regionale weg nr. 103 in Ribeiro Frio en naar schatting 1 uur en 30 minuten duurt, volgt de Levada da Serra do Faial. Langs het Vereda dos Balcões-pad krijgt u de kans om inheemse en endemische soorten van Madeira te ontdekken, die het laurierslibwoud verschillende tinten groen geven. Let tijdens de wandeling op de boomsoorten van de Lauraceae-familie en de exotische soorten die langs de randen van het pad voorkomen. De ‘kleine huizen van Santana’ zijn iconen geworden die nationaal (en daarbuiten) algemeen bekend zijn vanwege de bijzondere schoonheid van hun architecturale stijl. Met hun driehoekige vorm en bedekt met riet zijn ze het grootste symbool van deze gemeente aan de noordkust van het eiland Madeira. In feite zijn deze typische huizen een weerspiegeling van het isolement van deze locatie, die lange tijd moeilijk bereikbaar was over land en over zee. Het behoud van unieke culturele kenmerken, als gevolg van deze contingentie, is een erfgoed van enorme waarde geworden voor deze gemeente, die momenteel ongeveer 8800 inwoners telt.
Ponta de São Lourenço is het lange schiereiland dat het oostelijke puntje van het eiland Madeira vormt, ten oosten van het dorp Caniçal. Het eindigt op Farol Island.
Laatste stop bij Cristo Rei, met een standbeeld uit 1921 en met een prachtig uitzicht over de Atlantische Oceaan en de kust van het eiland Madeira.
Gelegen op een van de hellingen van de monding van Ribeira do Faial, in de gemeente Santana, biedt het uitkijkpunt Guindaste een prachtig uitzicht over de kustlijn van de noordkust van Madeira. Het is de ideale plek om de schoonheid van de Atlantische Oceaan die het eiland baadt te bewonderen.

We booked a second tour with Miguel from Warriors Adventure for the east part of the island, since we enjoyed so much the first tour we did with him on the west side and it was great again! We knows exactly the best spots to stop and the time frame when it's not crowded, we had plenty time to enjoy Pico do Areeiro and an excellent meal at his recommendation. The levada walk was also beautiful and then we were rewarded with some excellent driving skills on some off roads. Miguel gave us 2 beautiful days, he is really knowledgeable, kind, polite and fun!

This was my second time doing a tour with Miguel, and once again, it was absolutely outstanding! Every tour with him has been an amazing experience. The off-roading is so much fun, and you get to see so much of the island’s breathtaking scenery. Miguel is an excellent driver, incredibly friendly, and makes the whole experience unforgettable. Wonderful tour of the east. Good driver Miguel. Professional company that, despite being the only two clients, did not cancel. Watch out, you have to book a time and pay fees for the Balcones trail.

My special thanks go to Miguel, our friendly good guide/driver, in short nothing but good. He changes the schedule to avoid large groups. He also has a good restaurant reserved for us, nice that you do not have to look for yourself. Miguel was a very nice and accommodating guide; he told us a lot about the island and also took care of alternatives when a stop on the tour did not work out. He took care of everything, so we did not have to worry about anything, not even our lunch. We would definitely do this full-day tour again!

We did the full day East tour with Warriors Adventure led by our amazing guide Miguel. He was friendly, very engaging, proactively telling us about the stops but also about customs and life on the island. Highly recommend this side of the island for the dramatic scenery and relaxing vibe. Way better than hiring a car and trying to find the places (&parking!) yourself.

My husband and I did an East of island tour. Miguel picked us up from our hotel and had been in touch before with information and answered any questions we had which was a personal thing to do.
