In de loop van de dag rijden we door het betoverende, subliem mooie en grootste graafschap van Engeland, Yorkshire. In feite noemen velen het gewoon Gods County. We zullen de buitengewone verscheidenheid aan landschappen zien, van de zeer vlakke en landelijke Vale of Yorkshire tot de steile hoge en andere wereldse landschappen van de North York Moors. Onderweg zullen we uitstappen en verschillende locaties verkennen, zodat je echt kunt omarmen en ervaren wat een prachtige plek dit is en nooit te veel tijd in het voertuig doorbrengt. Leuke verrassingen en schapenwaarnemingen zijn altijd inbegrepen! Als uw reis naar het VK bezoeken omvat aan de steden van wereldklasse Londen en Edinburgh, dan moet u Yorkshire als het perfecte tegenpunt gebruiken om te laten zien welke buitengewone verscheidenheid dit prachtige land te bieden heeft.
Helmsley is een prachtige Engelse marktstad genesteld in het North York Moors National Park, het staat bekend om zijn charmante uiterlijk en de ruïnes van Helmsley Castle.

Whitby is een van de meest interessante en prachtige kuststeden in Engeland, het is verbonden met vele fascinerende stukjes geschiedenis, echt en fictief. Alleen al door voet op deze prachtige locatie te zetten, voel je je als een zeeman. piraat of ontdekkingsreiziger van weleer. In Whitby krijg je je eerste blik op de dramatische gotische ruïnes van Whitby Abbey, die de beroemde inspiratie vormde voor Bram Stoker's 'Dracula'. Op dit punt bent u van harte welkom om de vele interessante bezienswaardigheden en attracties te verkennen die Whitby te bieden heeft, alleen of met uw gids Andrew, die u kan vergezellen en u enkele van de fantastische verborgen charmes van deze oude nederzetting kan laten zien aan zee - de keuze is geheel aan u.
We gaan altijd naar de abdij en bekijken het van BUITEN. Het is een privétour met grote flexibiliteit, dus als gasten langer willen blijven en naar binnen willen, is dit natuurlijk altijd onderhevig aan de openingstijden van de abdij die buiten de controle van Expedition Yorkshire vallen.

My daughter and I booked 2 full day tours with Expedition Yorkshire, both led by Senior Guide Richard, that were absolutely wonderful. Richard picked us up right at out hotel and led us on a deep dive of beautiful Yorkshire that went so much further than typical tourism. He is a native of the area, and his knowledge abounds. He also tailored our tours to us and was lovely, responsive and flexible at all times. Also a shout out to Andrew, who always responded immediately to my emails and questions. Expedition Yorkshire surpassed my expectations in every way. I highly recommend them to those wanting to really experience Yorkshire and discover all it's beauty. We will be back, accompanied by Richard or Andrew.
Andrew took us through Yorkshire showing us the quaint towns, fantastic Castle Howard, and the Whitby Abby. He made sure we had great fish and chips in Whitby and stopped at the Goathland train station( where a scene for the Harry Potter movie was filmed). He made sure our tour was exactly what we wanted and made lots of stops for photos. I can highly recommend this tour!!

We'd wanted to visit Whitby for the longest time, already having fallen in love with York over the years and are so glad we finally got to make the trip with Expedition Yorkshire. We had the most enjoyable and fun day, thanks to Andrew's very knowledgeable guiding skills and wouldn't hesitate to recommend a tour. We were made very welcome from the off and saw so many places that we wouldn't have thought to look for or known how to find on our own. We were fortunate to have a beautiful day which only enhanced the views of the stark and striking North York Moors. We particularly enjoyed the short stops en route at the atmospheric Byland and Rievaulx Abbeys and a break for refreshment at Helmsley's lovely Walled Garden (you have to try the delicious cakes at the Vinehouse Cafe!). Whitby did not disappoint, the habour views were beautiful and of course the imposing Abbey looms over the coast, just as it has for centuries. We stopped for a rather touching visit to St Mary's Churchyard, a very atmospheric spot for a quick recap of the opening scene of 'Dracula', just as the sun was beginning to think about setting.. We cannot recommend Andrew and Expedition Yorkshire enough - nothing is too much trouble, you'll learn so much and get the best views of the most stunning parts of the county, shown off at its very best. Don't think about it for too long-book that trip, you really won't regret it.

Our wonderful tour guide Richard was so knowledgable of the area and showed us a wonderful blend of both historical landmarks and beautiful villages. We just got back from touring with Andrew for 4 days and wholeheartedly recommend Expedition Yorkshire for a fantastic experience!! We did the Moor, Coast & Cliff and ACG&S tours, as well as transfer tours from Edinburgh-York and York-Oxford. Andrew is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and funny. He knows the backroads and best spots, and he is clearly passionate about the beautiful area, as well as its people and history. We had a mixed family group (including 9 year old boys), and we also were dealing with some rainy weather and unexpected health issues. Andrew was unflappable – he tailored our trips based on our interests and needs, and helped us all make the best of our vacation. The touring van (as shown on the website) is very comfortable and well-maintained, and fit our group perfectly. We would happily book again with Expedition Yorkshire and highly recommend for an amazing bespoke experience!

We just completed two exceptional tours with Expedition Yorkshire. The first was the Moor, Coast, and Cliff tour, where we visited the amazing scenic countryside north and east of York where we were staying. We had also booked a “transfer tour” from York to our next destination in Edinburgh. This was a great way to move on to our next locale without “wasting” a day, as we traveled from site to site along the way. Andrew and company tailored the tours to our specific interests - history and photography - ensuring rich and memorable experiences for both of us. We highly recommend Expedition Yorkshire if you plan on visiting the region.

We spent an amazing day with Andew, the best day of our trip to the UK. Andrew has a warm, engaging personality which quickly makes you feel comfortable. He readily shares his comprehensive knowledge of the area, taking lesser known roads that lead to interesting sites that no guide book will ever include and most others would bypass. He took us through small towns, regaling us with their history and interesting stories. He knows the best cafes and restaurants in which to get refreshed. He was always willing to stop so that we could take in the views or capture images. We never felt rushed at any point; it was like taking a journey with a good friend. Three generations of my family (aged from 11 to 82) took a wonderful full day tour last month with Expedition Yorkshire, which included the Yorkshire moors, Staithes, Whitby, Goathland, and so many more places. Andrew was friendly, considerate, and extremely knowledgeable. He listened to our requests and planned a tour for us that included all the places where we wanted to go, but then added so many extra stops along the way, showing us beautiful places we would never have thought of visiting, or been able to get to by ourselves. It really was the highlight of our visit, and I highly recommend this company.
