Beschrijving

Interesting island exploration with sales character

The tour included admission to Uros Island. After a half-hour boat trip followed about 20 minutes of information about the inhabitants and the construction technique of the islands. After that, the trip was more of a sales event. To travel by traditional boat one was more or less forced. If you were persistent, however, you could also refuse. Nevertheless, we were happy to have made the tour, as the islands are something special for Lake Titikaka.

Basically take you to an island and charge you 15 sol to get back ohh plus tips....

They take you to a small island where they split the group up into 2-3 person groups then you are told that the local who is standing next to you depends on you and your money to live. they then try and sell you cheap items that you can buy anywhere for inflated prices. Then your told to go to another boat than the one you came on. There you are charged 15 sol regardless, then kids are forced to sink a few songs you can see they don't want to. Then the kid stands in front of you until you give them money. then they take you to a restaurant on another island and ask you to buy food. then you first boat shoes up and back to the dock. Where they flag down any random cabb for you and but you on your way.. All completely true!

A Must-Do for Those Short of Time

A wonderful experience! We were met in the Cathedral Square by Nancy who was a most efficient tour operator. She was in touch with me regularly after booking to check we knew where to go. At the quayside she introduced us to our guide and we set off with a group of Peruvians, Italians and Bolivians. We stopped at the first island and our guide gave us information in English whilst the others were meeting the head of the island. Sadly it started to rain but we were invited into their homes and met the family. We were offered the opportunity to go by a traditional boat to the second island - which was uninhabited but had food and drink facilities, as well as many artefacts. We returned to Puno in the big boat and watched the most magnificent sunset. A truly uplifting experience in so many ways.

The "big boats" are made of reeds and move very slowly, but it is fun

The natives living on the floating islands use a number of different boats (some of them are modern with gas engines) to get around and to do the daily chores, but the big reed boats (made in town by experts that have the tools to build such large boats) shown in the picture are not made by the natives. These are "show boats" to handle big tourists crowds to move you from one floating island to another. From what we could gather, the boats are not historic in nature. These are very slow and tough to move (the natives do the owrk for you) in between the isoans. However, for abotu

Very Well Worth It

This trip is extremely worth it. Lake Titicaca is massive and due to short of time we just managed to visit Uros islands which is very nice and well maintained. We learnt a lot about the culture and traditions of the people living on these islands. Although it is a bit touristy, it is well worth the visit.

Excellent Half Day Trip

We had a fantastic time doing this half day trip of Lake Titicaca. They are very professional team of people and are very excellent and friendly. They offered a free pickup from our hotel and dropped us back too. Although the island is somewhat touristy, it is very unique and worth visiting.

Fantastic Experience

I did not have much time and I decided to do this tour enroute to Bolivia. I had the best time visiting the floating islands. They picked me up from the bus terminal and let me store my bags in therir office for free while I was on tour. The guide was very nice and shared a lot of information. After the tour, they also dropped me back to the terminal. A very nice experience and I will surely consider them if I am ever in Puno again.

Experience of a lifetime

We did the half day tour of the floating islands as we were on transit enroute to Cusco from Bolivia. Lake Titicaca Trips and their guide was very nice. They helped us store our bags while we were doing this trip. Wish we had more time to see all three islands.
