A lovely evening and introduction to Gion and Geisha culture! My kids were totally engaged (ages 14 and 16) and we saw so much in 1.5 hours! Highly recommend!
We had such a wonderful tour! Mariko is so great! We learned a lot and she quickly moved us thru so many great spots in Gion!!

Ikki was fantastic! So kind and knowledgable, we learned so much on our tour and will never forget the moments we spent in Gion - we even got to see a genuine Geisha and, a few minutes later, a Maiko! Apparently, that's rare. I will say the walking was a bit much for me with an achilles injury, but I did it and would do it again - just be aware that it truly is 2 1/2 hours of walking both up and down and all over (minus the 10 minutes on the subway). As a family, we highly recommend Ikki and Otaku Hopper tours!

My wife and I had a great experience on this tour!! Ikki was a wonderful tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and knew the answers to any and every question posed by the group. Would highly recommend as a way to see Gion, since the area is less populated at night.

Booked this free, English-language walking tour with Kyoto Localized for our first night in the city. Den was a great guide - providing a fantastic history of the Gion district and the culture of Geisha's both past and present. As someone who had no knowledge of the Geisha profession before the tour, I now feel like I have a great understanding of what it's like for the girls and what the tea room culture means. Den was great at answering questions from the group and also covered some interesting bits of knowledge beyond the topic of Geishas as it related to what we saw along the route.
It is amazing to see the Geisha district at night! We even got lucky and spotted two Geishas!! Our guide Ikki was very easy to talk to and learn all about Japanese culture!!

We had a wonderful Gion night walking tour with our guide Mariko. Mariko was knowledgeable, answered all our questions and allowed us time to stop for breaks and photos. The pace and duration was perfect. We saw places we would not have known about and came away with a better appreciation of the culture and sacred places. It was magical to see the lanterns in the temples, shrines and laneways. It was also very peaceful without the masses of the daytime crowd.
