Kyoto Samurai-ervaring

Really enjoyable authentic experience. We only got to do 4 actual cuts and of foam not tatami as the picture suggests. Still highly recommended.

Very interesting, you don’t just get hands on experience with a sword, you get some history on the very house the event takes place in. You get information on the components and make up of a sword, the role of zen as well as being able to hold some antique weapons. Afterwards we got taken through some sword handling techniques before doing some cutting with the sword. The staff there take photos with their own camera which they make available for you to download, so if you are there solo, you can still get some great mementos.

If you're interested in Samurai culture and swordsmanship, this is a must. You get a bit of everything - a history lesson, shamisen music, zen meditation - and if course, the highlight is the Iaido lesson with practice swords (just like the real thing, just not quite as sharp!). The staff are really nice and helpful, and the instructor is brilliant. The highlight for me was handling a 650-year-old sword (very carefully!). Worth every penny.

An authentic experience using a samurai sword and learning the history of samurai!

Truly a one of a kind experience when in Kyoto, you get to experience a part of Japan most tourists do not. This was our favorite excursion in Kyoto, and the amount of history we learned was incredible! Super fun for the whole family and the pictures came out great!

Fun hands-on activity and a history lesson all packaged into one unforgettable and unique experience.

This was one of our favorite experiences during our trip to Japan. It marked a number of boxes in just 2 hours, we had a meditation session, sword lesson, drum beating and our main event of trying our samurai skills. The instructors were amazing and the photos they took for us were plentiful and amazing. Highly recommend for any age as my 9 year old loved it as much as my husband and I.
