Ervaar de trots van Kyoto's Kagai-cultuur en de geest van onze voorgangers. - De uitvoering duurt ongeveer 15 minuten (2 nummers). - Kyomai-dansvoorstellingen worden meestal uitgevoerd door 1 maiko of geiko. Op sommige dagen kunnen de 3e en 4e sessie door 2 worden uitgevoerd. - Als u hier geen beschikbaar ticket kunt vinden, bezoek dan onze website. In de Kagai-districten van Kyoto worden vrouwen die traditionele dans uitvoeren in ozashiki-banketzalen en op het podium en gasten vermaken, geiko genoemd (en niet geisha). Vrouwen die een opleiding tot geiko volgen, worden maiko genoemd.

Kyomai (Kyoto Mai Dance) Dansvoorstelling door Geiko of Maiko. De voorstelling duurt ongeveer 15 minuten (2 nummers). Kyomai wordt uitgevoerd in de Inoue-stijl door een geiko of maiko. Een zeldzame kans voor bezoekers om deze sierlijke dans van dichtbij te zien, waardoor ze de permanente tentoonstelling intiemer kunnen ervaren. Permanente tentoonstelling over Kagai Art Culture. Een introductie tot de wereld van geiko, maiko en hun cultuur via een divers aanbod aan tentoonstellingen, van prachtige handbeschilderde Yuzen-kimono's en Nishijin-brokaat-obi-sjerpen tot persoonlijke bezittingen en make-up die door maiko's worden gebruikt. De tentoonstellingen bevatten kostbare items zoals kanzashi-haarversieringen voor elk seizoen en zwarte, gekamde formele kimono's, die zelden worden gezien in de wijk Gion. Samen met foto's die de unieke sfeer van het Kagai-district weergeven, dompelt u uzelf onder in deze geheimzinnige maar glamoureuze wereld.

Very unusual, interesting style of geisha dancing. Smth to remember. Highly recommend this if you're curious about geishas.
A visit to better understand the fascinating world of geisha. The art museum houses a collection of objects related to this profession, with detailed descriptions of each stage of the process: a really interesting path. The show consists of a short dance that offers a taste of what a complete show could be.
Booked the experience for a weekday at 1:30 PM for 2 adults. Arrived a little early and could walk through their museum beforehand. The performance itself was about 10-20 minutes and was fairly interesting (one single geisha performing a dance). Overall, I wouldn't say the price/ticket fee was of value for what you actually received. Probably found more enjoyment of watching the full geisha show on their projector screen in the museum area.

This was an excellent experience. We arrived early and walked around the museum; we also watched a brief video that explained about the history of Gion, the dances by Maiko, and the history of the school. The dances of the Maiko were excellent and ample time given to the performances. It was a great beginning to start our stay in Kyoto with this museum and performance.

It was a spectacular dance with emotions right down to the fingertips. I like the fact that all the exhibits except Kyomai accept photographs I was pretty happy to get up close and personal with the performance of the capital dance.

The performance was very good but very short. But you can after roam around the museum and watch excellent videos of other performances that complete the trip. The museum is very interesting.

The Kyomai dance performed by two Geikos was such an unique, intimate and very beautiful opportunity for us. We had the chance to see these graceful dances up close. It’s pure joy to watch these beautiful artists perform.

It is short but enjoyable, in addition to watching the dance, you can visit the museum with several videos that explain you and see the theater in which they perform. A fantasy to experience
The Kyomai dance was graceful and mesmerising, and meeting the Maiko and Geiko felt truly special. The Gion Art Museum visit added great cultural experience too. Highly recommend if you're visiting Kyoto!
