Het Osaka History Museum ligt tegenover het kasteel van Osaka en is gebouwd op de plaats van een oud paleis. De 10e verdieping van dit museum is een geweldige plek om het kasteel van Osaka over het hoofd te zien. Door de ramen kunt u een panoramisch uitzicht op het prachtige kasteel krijgen en een goed inzicht krijgen in de enorme afmetingen en de hele structuur van het kasteel. Bovendien stellen de informatieve tentoonstellingen je in staat om de oorsprong en de echte geschiedenis van Osaka diep te begrijpen. Vooral het diorama van het oude hof en de drukke koopmansstad zijn indrukwekkend.
Osaka Castle, gebouwd in de 17e eeuw door de Tokugawa Shogunate, was een solide kasteel beschermd door dubbele grachten, hoge stenen muren, torentjes, enz. En was oorspronkelijk het huis van de samurai-leider van de Toyotomi-familie. Het kasteel wordt nu veel gebruikt door inwoners van Osaka als een park. Nadat je vanaf het observatieplatform van de hoofdtoren naar het uitzicht hebt gekeken, leer je meer over de geschiedenis van Osaka en Japan, gericht op samurai, via de exposities op elke verdieping. Bij de faciliteiten in MIRAIZA op het kasteelterrein kun je ook het gooien van ninja-messen meemaken!
Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street is de langste winkelstraat van Japan, op 2,6 km met 600 winkels, en het is altijd druk met een groot aantal lokale inwoners. Het is leuk om even rond te kijken in de winkels, en omdat er veel restaurants zijn, raden we je aan om hier je favoriete restaurant te kiezen voor de lunch.
Het stadsbeeld van Osaka, ongeveer 180 jaar geleden, is op ware grootte gereproduceerd en je kunt er echt in wandelen. Je zult Japan zien, aanraken en ervaren, de structuur van de huizen, de producten die toen werden verkocht, de hulpprogramma's en de leefgewoonten van de gewone mensen. Waarom krijg je geen gevoel voor het leven van de burger dat zo anders is dan de samurais?
De eetcultuur van Osaka heeft zich ontwikkeld vanwege de mensen die al sinds de oudheid dol zijn op heerlijke dingen, en Osaka is de voedselhoofdstad van Japan geworden. In deze markt staan veel winkels in de rij, en zeevruchten zoals krabben, kogelvis, zee-egel, vlees zoals Wagyu (Japans rundvlees) en Kobe-rundvlees en ook diverse snoepjes worden in de winkels bereid. Een groot aantal klanten bezoekt hier om te genieten van allerlei soorten voedsel terwijl ze rondwandelen. Probeer ook je favoriete voedsel te vinden!
Nu is Dotonbori de populairste toeristische attractie in Osaka. Oorspronkelijk was dit gebied geliefd bij de lokale bevolking als uitgaansgebied met een rij theaters langs het kanaal. Op dit moment zijn er restaurants met kleurrijke billboards langs beide kanten van het kanaal, waaronder natuurlijk winkels met takoyaki, de octopusballen die in Osaka zijn ontstaan en beroemde ramenwinkels. Neem een foto voor het bekende Glico-man uithangbord en geniet van het verkennen van de omgeving. Als u op zoek bent naar souvenirs, is Don Quiote ook vlakbij.

My tour guide was Chuji. This is a walking, guided tour that focuses on the history and also the most visited places in the city of Osaka. If you are going take this tour, be sure to wear comfy walking shoes and not boots like I did. Chuji was very knowledgeable about the city's local history, from the many years of the shogunate up to present time. Starting with the museums, they were a great introduction into life of the people as Japanese society evolved and changed over time. Great views of the city center from the museum and from Osaka Castle. We also went through the different markets and were able to sample some of food from stall vendors and restaurants. Great food choices. Great way to experience Dotonbori and many parts of the city on foot. Thanks for such a good tour despite having to stop and let my aching feet and legs take a rest! Good way to start your visit in Osaka!

Our guide Noriko picked us up at our hotel lobby which eliminated the stress of finding the meeting spot. We then used the subway to get around Osaka which really gave us a feel for the city. The best part of this tour was the way our guide Noriko was able to make the day easier for us. For example, had we done this tour ourselves, we wouldn't have known to take the electric car into Osaka Castle or the best photo spots or had line bypass. The tour guide was thoughtful, efficient and knowledgeable. The itinerary for this tour is intense and a lot of Osaka is covered in one day.
