Kandy is de mooiste plek in Sri Lanka en het is ook een werelderfgoedstad. De bezoekers die naar Kandy komen, kunnen een geweldige stadstourervaring opdoen met een lokale tuk tuk-chauffeur / gids die je heel goed helpt, waaronder de meest gemarkeerde plek rond de Kandy.

Tijdens de tour kunt u op bestelling volgende plaatsen bezoeken, U bezoekt eerst de Tempel van de Tand Relikwie (Sri Dalada Maligawa) om uw Kandy stadstour te beginnen. Dit is een zeer belangrijke plaats voor boeddhisten omdat de linker hoektand van de Heer Boeddha hier is verankerd. De Tempel van de Tand Relikwie is ook een UNESCO-werelderfgoed in Sri Lanka.
Vervolgens bezoekt u Kandy Lake, dat u kunt zien in de buurt van de Tanden Relikwie Tempel. De lokale bevolking noemde dit meer “Kiri Muhuda.” Dit is een uitstekende plek voor een ontspannen wandeling en ontspannen voor een paar minuten. Er wordt aangenomen dat het meer werd aangelegd door koning Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1807.
Na Kandy Lake bezoekt u vervolgens Kandy View Point. Dit is een mooie plek van waaruit je Kandy City kunt observeren. Het is een paar meter afstand van het meer. Kandy View Point moet worden opgenomen in elke Kandy Tour-route.
Kandy Local Market is uw volgende stop na het uitzichtpunt. Het is gelegen in het centrum van de stad en bevat twee verdiepingen met een binnenplaats. Hier kunt u zien hoe lokale verkopers hun verkoopactiviteiten doen.
Uw volgende bestemming is Bahirawakanda Tempel. Het gigantische Boeddhabeeld in deze tempel zal zeker mensen naar deze plek trekken. Iemand noemt dit ook wel “Sri Maha Bodhi Viharaya”. Het massieve standbeeld is 25 meter hoog en kan naar de top worden beklommen. Dit is een ander groot uitkijkpunt om Kandy te observeren.
Het National Gem and Gemological Museum is de volgende stop op uw tourroute. Hier kun je alles te weten komen over Sri Lankaanse archeologie en hoe ze converteren dateert van 4,6 miljard jaar geleden. U zult ook het geluk hebben om enkele zeldzame mineralen in dit museum te zien. De plaats is een uitstekende plek voor degenen die houden van nieuwe dingen te leren.
Volgens de Kandy City Tour Routebeschrijving bezoekt u het volgende bezoek aan een theefabriek. Je bent dus niet meer in de stad. Hier leert u het hele proces van het produceren van de beroemde Ceylon thee van begin tot eind. Thee is een belangrijk economisch gewas in Sri Lanka en levert een enorme bijdrage aan de economie van het land.
Na uw bezoek aan de theefabriek moet uw volgende stop bij de Peradeniya Botanical Garden zijn. Het is de grootste botanische tuin van Sri Lanka, met een oppervlakte van 147 hectare. Hier kunt u bijna 4000 plantensoorten observeren. Naast de bloementuin trekt het ook bezoekers. Peradeniya Botanical Garden ligt op 6 km van de stad, en het is een leuke plek om te ontspannen.
In de avond kijkt u naar de Kandy Cultural Dance Show. Het wordt georganiseerd door de Kandy Lake Club, waar u vele traditionele dansen kunt zien. Deze dansen zijn ook te zien op het Kandy Esala Perahera festival. Je zult geluk hebben om sommige van die dansen buiten het festival te zien.
Na de culturele dansshow, op basis van de resterende tijd, is uw eindbestemming het City Shopping Complex. Hier neemt u deel aan een winkelervaring. U kunt ook souvenirs kopen om mee te nemen. Na het bezoek aan het winkelcomplex zetten wij u veilig af bij het hotel zodat u de Kandy City Tour met ons kunt afsluiten!

Tamal was excellent, I recommend it 100%! A very dedicated guide and eager for customers to enjoy the tour.
We had booked to go on this tour a few days ago. Within the checkout there is an option to choose your hotel as a pickup location, which is part of the overall price. During checkout I found my hotel from the drop down list and believed I would be alright. The company messaged me saying they wouldn't be able to pick me up from my hotel now ("it is too far"). Which I found odd, as they have added the hotel to their drop down list of pick up locations. I questioned this, explaining how within the price was the pick up from the hotel, which was available as an option. I only got back "it's too far" repeatedly without explanation as to why the offer of hotel pick up was now too far. I suggested that they send us a TukTuk to collect us, offering to wake up earlier to facilitate this. The company said they would only organise it if we gave them an extra 20$ (this is doubling the overall cost of the tour). Furthermore, having taken many TukTuks to and from the centre of town the cost is usually about 3-4$ each way. So I am unsure why they would have charged us 20$ when the maximum cost would have been 8$. Someone who is new to Kandy/Sri Lanka may think 20$ is the going rate, when in fact it is extortionate. Then, without notice, they cancelled the booking without asking if I wanted to- blaming me for the reason they had to cancel the tour (I don't believe I was being unreasonable, as I was trying to get the service which I had paid for which included a pick up from our hotel). Overall I would be extremely wary about booking with this company. They were unwilling to resolve the issue with me, and cancelled the booking without asking. I am extremely disappointed they were looking to take a 12$ commission on organising a Tuk Tuk to and from the hotel- this feels like they were trying to fleece tourists.

For all bookings, our complimentary Kandy city pick-up service applies only to hotels located within approximately 4–6 km of the city center. This policy is in place to ensure punctuality and service quality for all travelers. Your accommodation, however, was located nearly 20 km away on a hillside. In such cases, a small additional cost is required to cover the driver’s extra travel distance, fuel, and time. We presented you with two clear, reasonable alternatives: Free pick-up from Kandy Railway Station. Direct hotel pick-up with a small additional, pre-quoted fee. As neither of these options was acceptable to you, we unfortunately could not proceed with the booking under the confirmed arrangements. Since the agreed service could not be provided without adjustments and you declined all proposed solutions, we were therefore entitled and able to cancel the booking from our side in accordance with our service policies and platform guidelines. This ensures fairness, avoids operational issues, and maintains the quality of service promised to all our guests. After the booking was cancelled, we contacted the Viator/TripAdvisor team to explain the matter in full. We submitted screenshots and detailed conversation records showing exactly what was communicated before the cancellation. This was done to ensure transparency, maintain service integrity, and have an accurate record on file. It is also important to clarify that the hotel list displayed during Viator’s booking process is generated by Viator’s system, not manually by us. When a property falls outside our free pick-up zone, we always recommend guests check directly with Viator’s support for confirmation. The tuk-tuk fare we quoted was not simply a transport charge, it also covered the driver’s time, fuel, and readiness to provide a safe and punctual journey. We have proudly served travelers for many years, building our reputation on honesty, clarity, and respect for every guest. While we regret that this particular booking could not move forward, we trust this explanation demonstrates that our decision was fair, reasonable, and in line with our service policies. Great experience. Tik tuk driver took us to some nice places, knowing the surroundings very well was very friendly and his English language skills were good. Also safe driving which we believe is important looking at the traffic in Sri Lanka !

Dsnu was fabulous and very speedy in a TukTuk! He took me to the usual tourist places and, at my request, to see some less popular and not usually visited ones. Great to meet the police horses! He even accompanied me to the botanical gardens - surviving a grilling from the tourist police - and told me about the history of Kandy, and something about the people, geography and economics, as well as the gardens. We only had one day in Kandy, so decided to take a day tour. Tharanga (Thara), our guide, was super flexible with our preferred start time, and expertly tailored our tour from the start (including a very useful stop at the train station where he helped us exchange our train tickets for the next day - highly appreciated as he managed to fit this in!). We saw so many interesting things - the dance show at the end was wonderful! Thara gave us detailed information at each stop, and was a pleasure to spend the day with. Would highly recommend!

Really enjoyed our tuktuk Kandy city tour! What an amazing price and the tour guide was really great! He answered all our questions, was pleasent and really went the extra mile to make sure we saw everything and was so flexible if we wanted to make stops on the way, and how long we took. He was also very attentive and made sure the children were safe in the tuktuk. We even asked Lanka safe tours for transport the next day to our next destination in Bentota, and the driver provided was the same: pleasant, knowledgeable and made sure we enjoyed the trip.
