Uw reis begint bij het iconische V&A Waterfront, waar we u persoonlijk helpen met inchecken en ferry boarding. Eenmaal op Robbeneiland leidt een Expert eiland Gids je mee op een boeiende bustour langs de belangrijkste historische bezienswaardigheden van het eiland, waaronder de Lime Quarry waar Mandela en andere politieke gevangenen werkten, de ruïnes van de Leprakolonie, de oude WOII-vestingwerken en prachtige uitzichtpunten met uitzicht op de oceaan en de skyline van Kaapstad. Het emotionele hart van de tour ontvouwt zich in de Maximum-Security Prison, waar een voormalige politieke gevangene zijn persoonlijke verhaal deelt — waardoor je een zeldzaam, uit de eerste hand inzicht krijgt in de ontberingen en veerkracht die tijdens de apartheid zijn ervaren.

Zodra je van de veerboot stapt, stap je in een tourbus met een lokale Gids. De bus rijdt rond het eiland terwijl de Gids uitleg geeft over de geschiedenis, het gevangenissysteem en het dagelijks leven op het eiland. Dit is wat u typisch zult zien : Je ziet gebouwen en overblijfselen uit de tijd dat het eiland nog als leprakolonie werd gebruikt. • Een klein oud kerkje en verschillende grafzerken worden aangegeven. • Gidsen leggen uit hoe mensen hier lang voor de apartheid geïsoleerd waren. Je komt langs : • Het personeelsdorp waar de huidige eilandbewoners (gidsen, arbeiders, museumpersoneel) wonen. • Oude huizen en administratieve gebouwen uit de apartheidstijd.De Kalkgroeve Dit is een van de meest betekenisvolle haltes : • Gevangenen, waaronder Nelson Mandela, werden gedwongen om hier fysiek uitputtende arbeid te verrichten.Na de bustour : Wandeltocht binnen de gevangenis Na de buslus komen reizigers in de maximaal beveiligde gevangenisruimte. Een voormalige politieke gevangene wordt je Gids. U zult zien : Cel van Mandela (B-sectie)
