Een must-visit als je in Kaapstad bent. Robbeneiland is gevuld met een rijke, 500 jaar oude, gelaagde geschiedenis. Het eiland vertegenwoordigt een belangrijk aspect van Zuid-Afrika. Houd er rekening mee dat: Geef ons bij het reserveren het volgende door: - Een paspoort- of ID-nummer (voor Zuid-Afrikaanse staatsburgers). - Een noodnummer - Een ophaaladres Deze informatie is uitsluitend bedoeld voor SAMSA-naleving en zal met niemand anders worden gedeeld dan de kapitein van de veerboot naar Robbeneiland. Als het weer het niet toelaat dat de tour plaatsvindt, kunt u een andere dag plannen. Als u opgehaald/afgezet wilt worden, wordt er een toeslag van R250,00 in rekening gebracht.

Begin uw reis met een hotel pick-up in Kaapstad en transfer naar de Nelson Mandela Gateway bij het V&A Waterfront, waar u aan boord gaat van de veerboot naar Robbeneiland. Bij aankomst maakt u een korte wandeling naar de tourbussen, langs historische bouwwerken die door gevangenen zijn gebouwd. Uw begeleide bustour omvat de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden van Robbeneiland: het kerkhof van lepra, de kalk- en blauwsteengroeven, het huis van Robert Sobukwe en de gevangenis met maximale beveiliging. Je ziet ook Nelson Mandela’s gevangeniscel, waar hij 18 jaar in gevangenschap heeft doorgebracht. Gidsen, waaronder voormalige politieke gevangenen, delen krachtige verhalen over veerkracht en de strijd van Zuid-Afrika voor democratie. Na de tour keert u terug met de veerboot naar Kaapstad, waar uw chauffeur u zal ontmoeten voor uw transfer terug naar het hotel. ⏱️ De volledige ervaring duurt ongeveer 4–5 uur, inclusief ophalen en wegbrengen bij het hotel.

I really enjoyed my time on this excursion. From my hotel pick up to the ferry ride to the tour and back. My bus ride had a wonderful guide. She explained and shared with us her family’s Reference Book. She teared up as she told the story about the book which made me tear up as well. Our tour guide at the prison was very knowledgeable. He was a former prisoner and showed us where his bed was positioned in section D. The tour was absolutely necessary in order to understand the history of Robben Island. After the ferry ride back my driver was there to pick me up. I choose to stay at Victoria and Alfred to have dinner and to do some shopping. Highly recommend this tour on your stay to South Africa. Only reason I gave it a four stars is you we rushed through the prison. Wanted to read more about the story of Robben island.

The ferry was an hour late in leaving for the island and then the tour guide sent us back to the ferry an hour earlier than everyone else. We just sat on the ferry thinking that it was leaving any minute but all of the other tour groups were still sightseeing. We had less than 1.5 hours on the tour. To make it worse, the first stop on the tour was a gift shop and snack bar. The first guide on the bus came out and asked us for donations.

Robben island is a must visit and the tour of the prison was very interesting. I do feel they are trying to get too many people through and It felt like not enough time. I would have liked more freedom to explore the complex. I understand the prison had to be controlled.

Driver picked up at the hotel and we still skip the line at the boarding place because we already have the ticket. Great tour, with cultural knowledge and proper structure.
