Kaapse Schiereilandtour van een hele dag
Beschrijving
Het schiereiland valt binnen het Nationaal Park Tafelberg, dat wereldberoemd is vanwege zijn ongelooflijke biodiversiteit. Het natuurreservaat Kaap de Goede Hoop strekt zich uit over de rotsachtige landtong. Het is een beschermd natuurgebied en de thuisbasis van een reeks antilopen, de zeldzame Kaapse bergzebra en andere unieke diersoorten. Het is ook een toevluchtsoord voor zeevogels, met 250 geregistreerde vogelsoorten die in het reservaat voorkomen. Kaappunt is het zeer puntige uiteinde van het Kaapse Schiereiland. Het is een direct herkenbaar herkenningspunt en wordt vaak ten onrechte aangezien voor het zuidelijkste puntje van Afrika. Er zijn twee nationale erfgoedmonumenten op Kaappunt die zijn gebouwd ter ere van 's werelds beroemdste ontdekkingsreizigers: Vasco da Gama en Bartolomeu Dias (die de eerste Europese ontdekkingsreiziger was die in 1488 Kaappunt rondde).

We begeven ons naar het vissersdorpje Hout Bay, over de spectaculaire Chapman's Peak Drive en naar het schilderachtige kustplaatsje Noordhoek. De schilderachtige rit over het schiereiland brengt ons naar het magnifieke natuurreservaat Kaap de Goede Hoop en Kaappunt. In Hout Bay heb je de mogelijkheid om een boottocht te maken naar Seal Island (niet bij de prijs inbegrepen) of een wandeling te maken over de populaire zeemanswerf en haven waar je vriendschap sluit met de vriendelijke zeehonden die opduiken voor een aai. Bij het natuurreservaat Kaap de Goede Hoop bezoeken we de beroemde vuurtoren van Cape Point. Je hebt de keuze uit een korte maar ietwat steile wandeling over een veelgebruikt pad naar de vuurtoren of je kunt de kabelbaan naar de top nemen. Het uitzicht is spectaculair en misschien zie je walvissen en dolfijnen in de baai.
We eindigen de ochtend in Simons Town, een legendarische marinestad met uitzicht op False Bay. Je hebt de mogelijkheid om de beroemde pinguïnkolonie op Boulders Beach te bezoeken (entree is niet bij de prijs inbegrepen) of tijd door te brengen met een wandeling door de historische hoofdstraat van Simons Town en de leuke winkeltjes en musea te bezoeken. We eten en drinken (voor eigen rekening) bij de Simons Town Mariner Wharf.
Na de lunch gaan we terug naar Kaapstad en de botanische tuinen van Kirstenbosch langs de False Bay-kustroute. We passeren de badplaatsen Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay, St James en Muizenberg. De straten zijn bezaaid met eigenzinnige boekwinkels, vintage kledingwinkels, surfwinkels en een verzameling populaire restaurants en delicatessen aan zee. We stoppen onderweg om door de straten te dwalen, wat te winkelen, naar de surfers in Muizenberg te kijken, walvissen te spotten als het walvisseizoen is en om foto's te maken van de beroemde kleurrijke strandhutten uit het Victoria-tijdperk.

The tour was not what we expected. We didn’t do many of the stops that’s were planned on the itinerary which was a little bit disappointing. Our guide was okay although he seemed agitated and threatened to leave some of the clients if they were even a couple of minutes late to the meeting spots. Overall the tour was not what was advertised.
Amazing breathtaking tour, I was by myself with a very qualified and nice guide, Sentle, who drove and took me to the most beautiful places.
Great tour to get a quick taste of the beaches, peninsular and back into the city. Really not enough hours in the day to see and experience what this beautiful place has to share with us.

A tremendous day with MoAfrika tours and my guide for the day, Sentle. Early start to beach then a wee cruise to Seal Island then to Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point, a delicious lunch at Saveur and the best part of the day for me at Boulder Beach penguins. Guide Sentle was accommodating, friendly and knowledgable and whilst a long day, it was superb. Highly recommend this tour to everyone, stunning scenery and wildlife.
