Istrië begint in Zagreb wanneer onze gids je ophaalt bij je accommodatie. De rit van Zagreb naar Pula duurt ongeveer 3 uur, dus we raden altijd een vroege start aan voor deze tour. Onze eerste stop is dus de stad Pula. PULA - de grootste stad en het centrum van het schiereiland Istrië. De vroegste vermelding van de stad was in de 10 eeuw voor Christus toen het werd gesticht door een oude stam. De stad was bekend bij de Griekse reizigers en zeilers, dus het was ook opgenomen in enkele Griekse mythen. De Romeinen hebben de stad in de 1e eeuw sterk gemaakt en u zult met ons de levendige overblijfselen van die tijd verkennen. Het staat bekend om de Romeinse architectuur en de meest beroemde daarvan is Arena, een van de best bewaarde amfitheaters ter wereld, de verschillende poorten naar de stad (Boog van de Sergii, poort van Hercules ...) of de Tempel van Augustus. Na 45 minuten rijden komt u aan bij ROVINJ. De stad werd ook gesticht door de Istrische stammen. Het werd gebouwd op een klein eiland dicht bij het vasteland en was in de 18e daarmee verbonden. Het werd vijf eeuwen lang geregeerd door Venetië, dus zowel de Italiaanse als de Kroatische taal zijn officieel in de stad. Tijdens deze periode werden de muren rond de stad gebouwd en de overblijfselen zijn zelfs vandaag te zien. Rovinj is een echt juweeltje en aanbeden door toeristen, want in werkelijkheid moet je bij elke stap die je zet een nieuwe foto maken. Nog 45 minuten rijden en we zijn in POREČ - de oude stad bijna 2000 jaar oud is het meest bekend om zijn Euphrasiusbasiliek, die uit 1997 staat. Op de UNESCO-werelderfgoedlijst. Het is een van de populairste toeristische bestemmingen in Istrië. Je kunt nog steeds de Romeinse invloed en de architectuur in de stad opmerken. Je loopt door de hoofdstraten, nog steeds in zijn oorspronkelijke vorm bewaard.

Our guide picked us up at 7:30am and we enjoyed a full day in beautiful Istria! Rovinj was absolutely wonderful and we were afforded a good amount of time to tour it alone before proceeding to Pula. Our guide was caring, explained the history of Croatia in detail and ensured our constant wellbeing. 100% recommended!
Tonya picked up our family of 5 from our apartment in Zagreb in a private comfortable van. This is a day trip but ABSOLUTELY worth it! The history in these 3 cities is unbelievable! You feel like you are in Italy! We walked through all the cities, saw a bunch of the main churches, basilica and had lunch at an Italian restaurant right on the water with a beautiful view! Our favorite part was the Colosseum. We have seen so many all over the world, but this was very intact, and they are always so breathtaking in view. We ended the night getting hot coco and letting our children enjoy the Christmas village in the square. Tonya was so wonderful with our children!

Tanija was a most excellent guide. It was quite a drive from Zagreb, but so worth it to see the old Illyria of Rome. The colosseum was incredible...

It was a long trip and truth to tell, there was not much to see. Our guide, Milan, was very nice but he didn't really say much about each destination. He was nice, friendly, funny, accommodating but I didn't learn much about each place because he gave us very little or no info about each place we visited. He drove us to all these places, let us off, told us how many minutes we had in each place and that was it! I could have given this tour a miss!
Thank you for your review. I understand that the tour is long. We wrote in our explanation of the tour that the tour is minimum 12 hours. The thing is that since we know when someone has only one day to get to know a destination we try to show as many spots possible. Sometimes it makes the day longer but we think its worth it. Pick up at your hotel and your convenience time to your request. Totally private and you can re arranged your itinerary & places you like to spend more time. Got to see 3 great places in a day. My driver/guide was so informative with the history and surrounding and I learned a lot in just a day.

Our private tour of Istria was a great experience. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and offered us options of sites to visit based on our interests. Rovinj was the jewel of the trip. A beautiful Venetian seaside town with the feel of Italy. Recommend taking a boat tour to get another perspective of the town and surrounding islands. The medieval town of Hum was very quaint and reminded us of the hillside towns in Tuscany. Would highly recommend this tour.

We went on a day trip to Istria and other wonderful places in the area of west Croatia. Beside having the best time visiting those places, we were lucky to have Tania as our guide. She was very friendly, helpful and also a great companion for our journy. Deeply recommended.
