Mis de meest verbazingwekkende heropvoering van de Inti Raymi niet, het Zonnefestival, de belangrijkste viering van het Inca-rijk om de winterzonnewende en het oogstseizoen te vieren; het begin van het nieuwe zonnejaar. Met dit ticket sla je de aankooprij over op de dag van het evenement, die zich op 20 minuten afstand van de evenementenlocatie bevindt.

Het Inti Raymi of Festival van de Zon op 24 juni van elk jaar in Cusco kent 3 ceremonies. Je hebt de mogelijkheid om in de volgende secties te zitten: Oranje (Aanbevolen), Rood (Standaard) of Groen (Economy) en je hebt ook de mogelijkheid om alleen de kaartjes of ook de toeristenbus naar het hoofdevenement te kopen. De Inti Raymi heeft 3 ceremonies, waarvan er 2 open zijn voor het publiek, maar het hoofdevenement is gereserveerd voor degenen die een ticketreservering hebben. En omdat alle straten in Cusco op deze datum gesloten zijn, heb je vervoer nodig van het centrale plein van Cusco naar het fort van Sacsayhuaman waar de re-enactment van Inti Raymi plaatsvindt. Deze tour omvat het vervoer, de lunchbox, het toegangsticket, het programma in zowel het Quechua als het Engels, zodat je kunt volgen wat er wordt gezegd, een dvd-souvenir, plus onze reisleider en personeel zullen elke bus vergezellen om je te helpen tijdens het transport .

Perfect seats. But it was difficult to get to the stage. It took us almost 2 hours from Plaza the Armas to the 3rth part on the stage. Maybe it is better to sell this trip only with pick-up!
I paid too much for this show. I already paid top dollar then was told a day before that the transport was not included even though i received email confirming I paid for my transport and lunch. So i had to pay additional $40... NOT impressed! We were transported to the site way too early. The start of the celebration was past 2pm but we were transported there about 11am. The Celebration/show itself was ok and the performers were great. But after watching the Corpus Christi celebrations and the many parade/festivals before the Inti Raymi, the Inti Raymi celebrations itself was an anti-climax. I would have just stayed at the Plaza de Armas to watch the Inti Raymi parade around the plaza.
The street market is great. Speciality is Ponchos of all shapes and sizes. From Ladies high quality to Men's coarse outdoor types. All are good value Lots of local silver jewellry and leather goods. Woven products such as wall hangings are also great value. Make it a day trip from Quito, stop at Cayambe to see the Equator line, view Mt Imbabura and the nearby waterfall. Arrive and lunch at the restaurant Inty Huasi, 4 course meal for $10. Then do the market. Leave by 4pm as the drive back to Quito can get choked with traffic. Look for tours on Viator to do this.
