Begin uw dag in het charmante Portinha 183, een gezellig café waar u kunt genieten van een heerlijk ontbijt en u kunt voorbereiden op een dag vol ontdekkingen. Van daaruit gaat u naar het Ibirapuera Park, een van de grootste en meest geliefde parken in de stad. Naast de uitgestrekte groene gebieden en meren, is het park de thuisbasis van belangrijke culturele ruimtes, zoals de gebouwen ontworpen door Oscar Niemeyer, het Museu Afro Brasileiro (dat Afro-Braziliaanse geschiedenis en cultuur viert), het MAM (Museum voor Moderne Kunst), de Biënal de Arte en het MAC (Museum voor Hedendaagse Kunst). Elk van deze plekken biedt een unieke ervaring, die je verbindt met kunst, architectuur en geschiedenis.

Museu Afro Brasil, in het Ibirapuera Park (São Paulo), viert het Afrikaanse en Afro-Braziliaanse erfgoed door middel van kunst, geschiedenis en cultuur. Het is gevestigd in het modernistische Padre Manoel da Nóbrega Pavilion van Oscar Niemeyer en werd geopend in 2004. De 6.000+ kunstwerken onderzoeken slavernij, verzet, religie en Afrikaanse invloeden in Brazilië. Hoogtepunten zijn stukken van Carybé, Rubem Valentim en Mestre Didi, plus heilige orisha's en muziekinstrumenten. Met gratis toegang organiseert het tentoonstellingen, workshops en evenementen, die de dialoog over rassengelijkheid bevorderen. Een must-visit voor het begrijpen van de zwarte erfenis van Brazilië.

Pedro was very professional, so I felt very safe in such a huge city like São Paulo on E-bike - he knew his way around the city and how to interact with the locals. The bikes were also in good condition and had a fair electric draw. The park itself (a small oasis in the concrete metropolis) was a nice place to be, with experiments going on and such like. And as we dismantled for a short walk, there were some interesting exchanges to be had, such as the sustainability of such a mammoth concrete environment, for example. This made the trip worthwhile and more engaging for me personally. Pedro also fully explained the controversial significance of the Monument to the Bandeiras (as pictured), which one can relate to our own caste/class systems. I would most definitely recommend this trip
