We beginnen onze reis met een belangrijk bezoek aan de Botanische tuin en de landschapstuin van de kunstenaar in Marrakech. Deze werd in 1923 gecreëerd door de Franse oriëntalistische kunstenaar Jacques Majorelle en werd pas in 1947 voor het publiek geopend. Vanaf 1923, en kenmerken een kubistische villa ontworpen door de Franse architect Paul Sinoir in de jaren dertig. Er is ook het nieuwe museum van Yves Saint Laurent om de hoek, een zeer goed samengesteld museum en een kans om de genialiteit en aandacht voor detail van YSL van dichtbij te zien. En de cadeauwinkel heeft een grote selectie artikelen in alle prijsklassen. Samen met Jardin Majorelle is het een perfect hoogtepunt van Marrakech
Vervolgens rijden we door de muren van de oude stad, we noemen het de medina, naar de Koutoubia-moskee. De Koutoubia-moskee, gesticht in 1147, het is de grootste moskee van Marrakech en het herkenningspunt van de stad zelf die andere gebouwen heeft geïnspireerd, zoals de Giralda van Sevilla en de Hassan-toren van Rabat. je gids zal hier een rondleiding krijgen en er zoveel informatie over bieden.
We rijden verder langs de keizerlijke Kasbah met een stop in een beroemde plek, Bab Agnaou is een van de 19 poorten waarmee je de wallen van de stad Marrakech kunt binnendringen. Deze poort (“bab” in het Arabisch) dateert uit de Almohad Berber-periode, in de 12e eeuw. Het diende als toegang tot het administratieve en militaire complex van de Kasbah van de kalief, de citadel van de macht, vanuit het zuiden van de stad. Geflankeerd door 2 kanonnen is het een van de meest indrukwekkende poorten van Marrakech.
We komen aan bij een belangrijk monument: Bahia Palace, door langs de Joodse wijk te rijden, de Bahia of de (The Beautiful) is een 8000 vierkante meter grote, kamerhoge extravagantie van ingewikkeld inlegwerk, pleisterwerk en zouak (geschilderd hout ), en zeker een van de meest in het oog springende bezienswaardigheden van Marrakesh. De salons van zowel de Petit Riad als de Grand Riad, gebouwd door grootvizier Si Moussa in de jaren 1860, herbergen ingewikkelde inlegwerk- en zouak-plafonds, maar de Cour d'Honneur, een grote binnenplaats, met een vloer van 1500 vierkante meter van Italiaans Carrara-marmer, is het onbetwiste hoogtepunt. Ondanks de enorme oppervlakte die wordt tentoongesteld, is slechts een deel van de acht hectare en 150 kamers van het paleis open voor het publiek. De grote ruimtes zijn soms gastheer voor belangrijke culturele evenementen.
Nadat we ons bezoek aan de Bahia Place hebben afgerond, lopen we door de Semmarine Souks om alle kleurrijke markten of ''Souks'' te verkennen en te ontdekken. Volg gewoon je gids om de markten in de medina van Marrakech te ontdekken, waar de Arabische en Berberse culturen exploderen van kleur, geluid en originaliteit. Ruik kruiden, proef olijven, raak lederwaren aan en koop lokaal handwerk....
Na het doolhof van de Souks komen we aan op het beroemde volksplein : het Jamaa El Fna-plein, waar de slangenbezweerders, verhalenvertellers, acrobaten en straatverkopers de oude ommuurde stad vanaf het Jemaa El Fnaa-plein tot leven wekken. In de avond wordt een plek voor eten, met kleine restaurants in de openlucht. The whole experience was great. Jardin Majorelle and Bahia Palace were both incredible and our tour guide Aziz was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Koutoubia Mosque is stunning. The tour of the souk was extremely helpful. We had gone ourselves the day before and were overwhelmed. It really helps to have a knowledgeable guide to take us through all the alleys and take us to points of interest we would otherwise not have found on our own. It was memorable and incredible and we would recommend to anyone traveling to Marrakech for the first time.

We had a wonderful half-day tour of Marrakech with our guide. Our guide provided lots of helpful insight to each site we visited and answered all our questions. He even provided useful information about the local cultures and traditions when it was pertinent to the location. The guide was also able to integrate information about Islam into the tour when we inquired, which was helpful as well as interesting. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing the diversity of Marrakech in a short time.

Hassan was an amazing guide! He literally went above and beyond for me. I particularly wanted to find something in the souks and he made sure to help me find it off the beaten path. The tour itself was so fun, and he was knowledgeable about all the sights. If you are a female solo traveler I highly recommend you take a tour with him.

Do not think for a minute you are getting a guided tour. We were simply dropped off at 4 locations and given minimal information. After 3 and a half hours we were dropped off near the souks and left to get on with it.

We had a great day. We saw the main sites on a private tour and with a knowledgeable guide. The van was very comfortable and we felt very safe and well cared for.

Would give three and a half stars if that was an option. Pros: car with driver made it more relaxing, definitely could be a plus for anyone w mobility issues. Guide was friendly and bought us bottled water and Moroccan bread to taste. Told us how to get the tickets to the garden before the tour. Cons: although it is a private tour, schedule could not be modified even when asked in advance. We had done a previous tour of the souks and wanted less time there and more time at the other attractions or to add a different site. Was told that it was not possible as it was a fixed schedule (even though it’s a private tour) and tour ended 30 mins early. In the garden, tour guide did not accompany us even though we saw most guides did- felt like we missed info and had no one to take photos of both of us. The other stops were as described, just very crowded but not the tour company fault. If you’re Jewish you might find some of the guides comments and stereotypes of Jewish people offensive. I do not believe the guide was trying to be hateful, the comments came from a place of ignorance. Guide wanted to “show us the rug shop in the Medina” (we had already endured looking at rugs we did not want to buy and feeling pressured from our last tour to buy said 1000+ dollar rugs), we politely declined and continued with the other areas of the souks. If you’re looking for a regimented tour with everything as described then this tour would be good- our biggest issue was zero flexibility.
