De Majorelletuin werd voor het eerst aangelegd door de Franse schilder Jacques Majorelle in 1923. Hij had daar een villa voor zichzelf laten bouwen en zijn eigendom uitgebreid door nog meer percelen grond vol met de botanische collectie van de schilder van over de hele wereld te kopen. Na de dood van Majorelle werd de tuin verwaarloosd en verlaten totdat het werd ontdekt door Yves Saint Laurent en Pierre Bergé die het huis hadden gerestaureerd, de botanische tuin hadden verrijkt en ze in hun oude glorie hadden teruggebracht. De villa Studio is nu de thuisbasis van een Berber Culture Museam dat het beste van de YSL persoonlijke collectie Berber-items bevat, zoals authentieke handgemaakte zilveren sieraden, antiek keramiek, tapijten en andere kunstwerken.
De Koutoubia-minaret is de beroemdste bezienswaardigheid van Marrakech. Het is verbonden met de Koutoubia-moskee die aan het einde van de 12e eeuw is gebouwd. Het is niet bijzonder hoog, maar het torent hoog boven de medina van Marrakech uit dankzij een al lang bestaande wet die andere gebouwen in de stad verbiedt om boven de Koutoubia uit te stijgen.
De Mellah van Marrakech werd in 1558 bij decreet van de sultan Abdallah al-Ghalib van de Saadian-dynastie gemaakt, buiten de muren van het El Badi-paleis. Tijdens de 16e en 17e eeuw was de Mellah een van de belangrijkste commerciële gebieden van de oude medina van Marrakech. Het werd in het verleden bewoond door Joden die na de reconquista van het Iberisch schiereiland zijn verdreven.
Het Bahía-paleis is een laat 19e-eeuws paleis dat vooral bekend staat om zijn mooiste decoratie. De muren zijn voorzien van stucwerk gesneden met prachtige Arabische kalligrafie, geometrische patronen en arabeske ontwerpen. De plafonds zijn mooi gedecoreerd met het bewerkte cederhout uit het middelste Atlasgebergte. De grond is ontworpen en gedecoreerd met de handgemaakte tegels genaamd Zallij met prachtige kleuren die oorspronkelijk afkomstig zijn uit natuurlijke hulpbronnen zoals mineralen en planten.

In het hart van Marrakech, die de steegjes ten noorden van het centrale plein vullen, zijn de soeks, mijl na vernauwde mijl van kleine, kast-sized emporia. Het aantal winkels is overweldigend, 100 op 100 meter. Elke sectie van de Souks heeft zijn specialiteit, met steegjes gewijd aan alles, van specerijen en ijzerwerk tot de ingrediënten die nodig zijn voor het uitspreken van magische spreuken.

Need to pre book well in advance (several days !) for Jardin Majorelle. Hassan helped us to book the garden tickets otherwise we wouldn’t have got in . Hassan was a true local seemed to know everyone ! His knowledge was excellent, gave us lots of insight into the history and the local culture. Absolutely no pressure to buy at the stop offs , we appreciated being able to skip the long queues. Shared the certified shopping areas to avoid bro g scammed. Excellent recommendation for lunch , great food at very reasonable price. They accommodated our request to visit the local pottery market Had a fabulous day from start to finish 10/10. .

Hassen was the best! Highly recommend to do this the first full day you are in Marrakesh, Hassen can give you lots of recommendations on where to eat, shop, and other destinations to view! We had mentioned we were interested in seeing the Marrakesh Synagogues and he added a stop on the tour just to show them to us. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Hassan was a really great guide! He was informative and made sure that we always got the best deals out of this shopping tour. You have noticed long queues of travellers suffering at the entrance of monuments. 4/ You did not pay any extra fees except your payment which is mentioned clearly on the 100 % trusted Trip Advisor platform: Guide and vehicle with insurance for all risks. We are registered official suppliers for tours which means we get only our fees of service after we pay transport companies , other fees and different government taxes. Finally , no one had forced you to buy our services since you can go alone as you have said to the mentioned sites in the old Medina and new city for a 7 hours walking tour without a guide , vehicle or our fast access 🚶😇.
