Heilige Vallei De Heilige Vallei werd een gebied met koninklijke landgoederen en landhuizen voor de Inca's, voor het religieuze establishment en ook voor de landbouw. Een daarvan was maïs, een prestigegewas voor de Inca's, om chicha te maken, een gefermenteerde maïsdrank voor de Inca's en hun onderdanen geconsumeerd op hun vele ceremoniële feesten en religieuze festivals. Op deze volledige dag van de Heilige Vallei-tour bezoekt u indrukwekkende constructies van steden als Pisac en Ollantaytambo, die nog steeds hun waterfonteinen uit de bergrivieren laten stromen. De Heilige Vallei-tour neemt je mee door lokale dorpen en ontmoet lokale mensen met hun traditionele kostuums, zodat het een onvergetelijke ervaring aan je reis zal toevoegen.

Uw reis begint om 8:00 uur met een pick-up van uw hotel in Cusco. We stijgen door de bergen, langs de iconische Saqsaywaman, voordat we 450 meter afdalen naar de betoverende Heilige Vallei. Hier slingert de heilige Urubamba-rivier door schilderachtige landschappen en leidt ons naar het charmante dorpje Pisac. Onze eerste stop is de levendige traditionele markt van Pisac, een oase van lokale kunst en kleurrijke souvenirs - perfect om een speciaal aandenken te vinden. Na ongeveer 30 minuten stijgen we naar de archeologische site van Pisac, majestueus boven de vallei. Verken deze fascinerende ruïnes met een rondleiding en ontdek oude Inca-structuren, ceremoniële altaren, ingewikkeld houtsnijwerk en de beroemde Intihuatana-steen. De adembenemende uitzichten op de vallei beneden zijn onvergetelijk. Breng hier ongeveer 90 minuten door, of kies ervoor om meer tijd op de markt te genieten en later weer bij de groep te komen. Maak je klaar voor een onvergetelijke mix van cultuur, geschiedenis en een prachtig landschap!
Na een schilderachtige rit pauzeren we in het charmante stadje Urubamba voor een lunchpauze (ongeveer 45 minuten, lunch niet inbegrepen), omgeven door de prachtige achtergrond van de Heilige Vallei. Vervolgens reizen we naar Ollantaytambo, ooit het koninklijk landgoed van de grote Inca-keizer Pachacuti. Deze oude stad is een meesterwerk van Inca-engineering en -ontwerp, waarbij ceremoniële, agrarische en architectonische wonderen worden gecombineerd. Tijdens onze uur durende verkenningstocht bewonder je de ontzagwekkende Tempel van de Zon, waar kolossale stenen onberispelijk werden gehouwen en aangebracht door bekwame Inca-steenhouwers. Wandel over landbouwterrassen die op ingenieuze wijze zijn ontworpen om microklimaten te creëren, en ontdek ingewikkelde stenen waterfonteinen en kanalen die de vindingrijkheid van Inca-waterbouw benadrukken. Ollantaytambo is niet alleen een historische site; het is een levend bewijs van de schittering van de Inca beschaving en een plek die je met ontzag zal achterlaten.
Onze laatste stop brengt ons naar het betoverende dorpje Chinchero, waar geschiedenis en cultuur tot leven komen. Hier zullen we ongeveer 30 minuten doorbrengen met het verkennen van het fascinerende hoofdplein, de thuisbasis van een enorme Inca stenen muur versierd met tien perfect vervaardigde trapeziumvormige nissen. Het hoogtepunt is de prachtige koloniale kerk van Chinchero, gebouwd in het begin van de 17e eeuw bovenop de overblijfselen van een oud Inca-paleis. Binnen bloeien de muren met ingewikkelde bloemen- en religieuze ontwerpen, een verbluffende fusie van Andes- en Spaans kunstenaarschap. Terwijl we door Chinchero dwalen, zie je ook de levendige tradities. Locals dragen trots kleurrijke kleding die een unieke mix van inheemse en Spaanse invloeden weerspiegelt. Dit alles wordt omlijst door adembenemende uitzichten op de besneeuwde toppen van Chicón en Veronica, waardoor Chinchero een onvergetelijke finale is van onze reis door de Heilige Vallei. Tot slot is het tijd om terug te keren naar Cusco, waar we je afzetten bij je hotel

Cusco and Machu Pichu were great. The highlight was definitely Machu Pichu!! Absolutely would like to go again. Our tour guide Claudio Andia was so good.
