Nadat je bent opgehaald bij je favoriete hotel in Cusco, gaan we naar onze eerste stop, Chinchero. Hier zullen we een textielcentrum bezoeken, waar we meer te weten komen over het weefproces van het beroemde traditionele textiel van het gebied, de winning van de alpacawol en meer. Dan hebben we het voorrecht met uitzicht op de oude archeologische vindplaats Chinchero.
Onze volgende stop is in Moray, een oud landbouwlaboratorium waar meer dan 250 plantensoorten werden gekweekt tijdens het Inca-tijdperk.
Als we klaar zijn met onze excursie, gaan we richting Maras, een klein stadje met koloniale en Inca-kenmerken.
We bezoeken de Salineras, een groep van meer dan 3.000 zoutmijnen die momenteel door de lokale bevolking wordt gebruikt voor de winning van zout sinds de Inca-tijden.
Na een ochtend van verkenning en plezier, stoppen we voor de lunch in Urubamba, een prachtige vallei omringd door torenhoge bergen en een groenblijvend natuurlijk landschap.
We volgen de route en gaan verder naar Ollantaytambo. Het kleine stadje is een goed bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van de stedenbouwkundige kennis van de Inca's, omgeven door torenhoge bergen en een bloeiende natuur. Tijdens de Inca-tijden was Ollantaytambo een administratief, ceremonieel en militair centrum.
• U kunt uw ervaring voortzetten naar Aguas Calientes met een treinrit vanaf het treinstation van Ollantaytambo. • Als u terug wilt naar Cusco, is de vertrektijd vanuit Ollantaytambo om 16:45 uur, aankomst in Cusco rond 18:00 uur.

Viajes Machu Picchu is a first class outfit to customize a tour of the Inca sites all around Cusco and of course Mach Picchu. Domingo was probably the best tour guide we’ve ever had - for 8 days his energy and enthusiasm never wavered. The drivers and cars were new and comfortable. Manuel Usca and Jay were both exceptional tour guides. Manuel was very welcoming, energetic and informative right from the time he picked us up till the moment he dropped us off at the train station. He provided detailed knowledge of Inca history and made it a lively tour. He was very accommodating of our schedule and took extra care by helping us with our itinerary. They both went out of their way to make the entire day a very comfortable and pleasant experience.

Walter helped me and my daughter tour this area. He was great! My daughter was sick from the altitude and he made sure she was okay. I highly recommend taking this with Walter.

Walter was the best! He was on top of the itinerary! We felt an ease of the tour, and really got to see everything. He speaks English which made this tour so enjoyable. I highly recommend taking this tour with Walter! He was a great tour guide!

Sacred Valley of the Incas and Ollantaytambo, we did the tour with the guide Walter who was very didactic with quite relevant and satisfactory explanations where we were able to assimilate the history and culture of the Incas.
