Het Titicacameer ligt tussen Peru en Bolivia. Het is het hoogst bevaarbare meer ter wereld, je vaart rond de wateren.
Voordat we aan boord gaan van de motorboot naar het eiland Uros, maken we een korte stop bij de kade waar u snacks en mineraalwater kunt kopen. Eenmaal op de boot. Onze gids zal zichzelf en de bootkapitein voorstellen voordat hij u een overzicht geeft van de route van het Titicacameer. Tijdens de tocht zie je lisdoddeplanten groeien in het meer. Als de boot aanmeert, zal het eilandhoofd demonstreren hoe ze de eilanden met riet bouwen en een paar woorden in Aymara delen. De inboorlingen staan bekend om hun ambachten, die je kunt kopen. Je hebt dan de mogelijkheid om met een rietboot (15 Soles) naar het hoofdeiland Uros te varen en je paspoort als souvenir af te stempelen. Je kunt naar het bovendek van de boot lopen en foto's maken van de drijvende eilanden.
Nadat we van Uros hebben genoten en de rijke cultuur hebben leren kennen, keren we terug naar het historische centrum, waar we toeristen afzetten bij hun respectievelijke hotels, zolang ze in dit gebied zijn.

They were extremely efficient and got us in and out at the exact time we needed. We had a flight from Juliaca to Lima later in the day and they were extremely helpful getting us in and out on time. They arranged to have a tuk tuk pick up my father who hurt his back at Machu Picchu.
I discovered Lake Titicaca with Walter and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. He passionately shared with me the history of the lake, the local life and traditions of its inhabitants etc. Walter is a very patient guide, always attentive, and he takes the time to answer every question with kindness. He also speaks excellent English, which makes the tour smooth and very pleasant. Thanks to him, I experienced an authentic and memorable immersion. I recommend Walter without hesitation!
After we left one hour late, the tour guide whose English was not the best and only memorized what he had to say brought us to the first island where it was all about buying souvenirs from the locals instead of actually learning about their culture. After we spent way too much time there and people kind of felt being forced to buy something, we went to the second island which was all about consuming some food. We didn't get any more information about the surrounding. I was totally disappointed that I waisted my time in that beautiful part of the lake.

Island Rotation: Today we visited four islands and the capital; the day after tomorrow and the following day we will visit groups of four different islands each day. We do this because each island belongs to different families (like the one we visited today, where only two families live). Social Impact: These families depend exclusively on tourism. The 20 soles donation we request is essential for them; with it, they buy basic necessities like rice, sugar, and other essential food items. Island Rotation: Today we visited four islands and the capital; the day after tomorrow and the following day we will visit groups of four different islands each day. We do this because each island belongs to different families (like the one we visited today, where only two families live). Social Impact: These families depend exclusively on tourism. The 20 soles contribution we request is essential for them; with it, they buy basic necessities like rice, sugar, and other essential food items. Very professional, a clean and very friendly taxi picked us up on time at the hotel. Very good boat with a guide listening. They could take us back to the hotel but we preferred to stay in port for lunch. And all for 5 euros!!!

Our guide Samuel shared lots of interesting information, which made the trip even more special. The time on the lake was more than enough to get a wonderful impression of the area. It was a most unique and amazing experience. Seeing people living on floating islands - not on dry land is inconceivable.
