In deze 3 uur durende tour maak je kennis met Windhoek en Namibië van het koloniale tijdperk tot de moderne tijd. Bezoek de Christuskerk en het oude fort voordat u de township Katutura ingaat om de mensen te ontmoeten, lokale delicatessen te proeven en de geschiedenis van Windhoek en zijn mensen te leren kennen.

Onze eerste stop is de Christuskirche, het meest herkenbare monument van Windhoek. Kijk binnen (als het open is) en leer over deze uniek ontworpen kerk in het centrum van de stad.
Onze volgende stop is Parliament Gardens, genoemd naar de nabijheid van het parlementsgebouw. Hier leren we alles over de rijke geschiedenis van Namibië en de mensen die hebben gevochten voor de onafhankelijkheid van Namibië.
Hier komen we meer te weten over Dr. Sam Nujoma, de vader van Namibië, en de strijd voor de onafhankelijkheid van Namibië en waar we nu zijn, ongeveer 20 jaar na de onafhankelijkheid.
Verdere informatie over de geschiedenis van Namibië, inclusief de rol van de Duitsers en de onafhankelijkheid van Zuid-Afrikanen.
Vanuit Windhoek gaan we naar de Katutura Township om te ervaren hoe meer dan 50% van de inwoners van Windhoek leeft. Katutura zelf is een enorm gebied en bestaat uit alle verschillende buitenwijken van alle verschillende sociaal-economische niveaus.
Verken de lokale markt en probeer wat lokale delicatessen van Kapana (bbq-vlees) tot Mopane-wormen, tot meeliepap en meer.
Onze laatste stop is Penduka, een prachtig damesproject opgezet om vrouwen kansen op werk te bieden. Verken hun werkplaats en zie hoe ze prachtige lokale curiositeiten maken, van batikachtige stoffen tot borduurwerk en meer.

What a great tour! Gregory was amazing, and really gave a great outline of Windhoek. Great way to start my trip to Namibia.
Three-hour trip with a city tour. The city itself does not have much to offer, but the guide was very thorough. The most interesting part of the local market is the Township.

We were amazed at how much we saw and experienced on this tour. Each place was brief (some a bit longer) but it gave a good taste of Windhoek and the Township. Highly recommend!

Visited to main buildings in Windhoek from colonial times through to modern. Then visit to township created during apartheid and a local food market. Then to informal settlement which houses 300000 people in tough conditions. Lastly visit to women's craft cooperative. Michael was very informative.

Great tour to get an understanding of the reality of living in Windhoek. We were briefed on the history of Windhoek then drove through the various neighborhoods that are part of Windhoek.
