Rondleiding met wijnproeverij in Verona

Een reis door de smaken van Verona en de Italiaanse keuken met je lokale gids, in het Engels of Italiaans. We beginnen bij een delicatessenwinkel om een selectie van gerookte hammen en kaas te proeven, vergezeld van groentepatès. Omdat er veel olijven groeien in het gebied, gaan we langs bij de plaatselijke oliemolen om een bruschetta te proberen en er alles over te leren. Bij de volgende stop proeven we 3 iconische Italiaanse chocolaatjes en komen we meer te weten over hoe ze worden gemaakt. Verona staat bekend om zijn rode Valpolicella-wijnen. We houden een pauze in het proeflokaal van Saibante, een wijnmakerij die minder dan 15.000 flessen per jaar produceert. We zullen niet alleen proeven, maar ook de geheimen van het maken ervan ontdekken. Terwijl we door het historische centrum van Verona lopen, vertellen de gidsen verhalen over de geschiedenis, tradities en cultuur van de stad. De laatste stop is in de familiewinkel die vanaf 1909 Pandoro produceert, de beroemdste cake van Verona. Kom hongerig, enthousiast om nieuwe dingen te leren en klaar om de smaken van Verona te ontdekken.

Onze eerste stop is in het Castelvecchio-gebied, bij een lokale delicatessenzaak om een selectie gedroogde hammen, kazen en groentepatès uit Sicilië te proeven.
Na een korte wandeling door de pittoreske straatjes van Verona, stoppen we bij de oliemolen Redoro-winkel. Het Gardameer houdt het klimaat perfect om olijven te verbouwen, dus geniet van een bruschetta met dit vloeibare goud en 2 patès.
Verona staat bekend om zijn Valpolicella-wijnen waar de wijnmakerij Corte Saibante is gevestigd. Ze produceren minder dan 10.000 flessen per jaar en behouden een hoge kwaliteit. We stoppen bij hun proeflokaal in de buurt van de Arena waar een sommelier uitleg geeft en 2 proeverijen van Valpolicella serveert
We passeren Piazza Erbe en stoppen bij de familiewinkel die Pandoro, de beroemdste cake van Verona, produceert en verkoopt. Kom hongerig en klaar om de smaken van Verona te ontdekken!
De tour stopt niet bij Juliet's House, maar we passeren er vlakbij. Het huis werd in de tijd van Dickens gebruikt als hotel.

Jacopo was very knowledgable and friendly and we had a great time. We were a family of 4 with a 22 year old and 14 year old. Learnt lots about the history of Verona. Would highly recommend this tour

Manuela was a wonderful guide who shared insights about Verona and its food culture. We visited small shops with food/drink/sweets specific to Verona and the region. We especially appreciated that even though the tour did not fill up ( only the two of us + Manuela), he did not cancel for whatever reason, as so often happens. We highly recommend the tour. We are not used to good wine and after three glasses we were high... anyway in the end it went well and we all went home happy

Our guide, Leonardo was fantastic! It was only my wife and me on the tour but that didn’t throw him. Leonardo was very knowledgable about Verona and the food and wine from the area. While there were not as many tastings as other tours we’ve taken, we learned a lot about the items and how they fit into Verona’s food history. The walk around town was also very informative. We really felt coming away from the tour that we certainly got our money’s worth and spent a few very pleasant hours learning about Verona.

This was not as good as other food walks I've taken in other cities, but it was fun. Our first stop, an olive oil tasting on bruschetta, was not informative at all, but the oils were interesting and different. The candy stop was an intense rapid overload of sugar with hardly any information. Our cake stop wasn't a stop, it was a pick-up and eat in the street, again, with no information. Our final stop we actually learned a bit about the two wines, but nothing more about the meats and cheeses than their straightforward descriptions. As we walked through Verona our guide pointed out a few historical points of interest. While we had a very good time with our guide and the other guests, the food choices didn't thrill us.

Unfortunately, the guide that was there was substituting our main guide who had an accident, so that is why the informative part was lacking. But now our main guide is back!
